Announcing TBB’s Steampunk collaborative display at BrickCon 2025 [News]

Summer is here, and that means another Brickcon is right around the corner. We had a great time hosting our collaborative display last year, featuring botanical scenes of all shapes, sizes, and scales — there were some truly amazing builds. This year, we want to showcase something a little more ambitious! We hope our community of builders and convention-goers is equally excited to join us in a steampunk world’s fair that we’re calling the Royal Exposition 1898!

Think of a version of a world’s fair like the famous 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, but with a steampunk twist. Monowheel vehicles, airships, pavilion booths, Victorian architecture, walking platforms — the only limit is your imagination. We’ll set up a channel on our Discord and provide some building standards after the jump, and in that channel.

General layout

We want the collaborative display to be flexible, so while there won’t be a specific map or fixed layout, we’ll bring material to help fill in the display organically as we all come together at BrickCon. If you have an existing build or want to bring something new, be sure to register it under the theme TBB Collab Royal Exposition 1898 (the exact theme name may vary).

Pavillion booths

The standard for the pavilion is a plate (in increments of 8, 16, 24, or 32 studs on a side), a brick, and a top plate in dark sand if possible, or build right to the edge. We will provide spacers if needed. The front of the booth should have a 1×4 Technic brick or equivelant to connect booths to a central walkway. Another 1×4 Technic brick or equivalant should be added to each sdei 4 studs back from the front edge (studs 5-8).

If you have an existing building, or an unusually sized booth you want to bring, just make sure you include Technic bricks along the front, and DM us on the Discord channel so we can plan ahead.

TBB will provide spacers and pins to attach the booths together. We will also provide a tree-lined waterway and sidewalk to attach booths to either side.

Prizes

Trophies and LEGO prizes will be awarded, as with previous TBB collaborations, including Best Expo Booth or Pavilion, Best Steampunk Vehicle, Best Victorian or Steampunk Building, and more.
