Fedde: You got to love your monkey – Boilerplate & Beyond Vol. 8 [Interview]

For our 8th installment of interviews with LEGO fans from around the world, Keith Goldman journeys to the land Down Under. Take it away, Keith! H.P. Lovecraft once wrote “Men of broader intellect know that there is no sharp distinction betwixt the real and the unreal…” If that is true, then our man Fedde (Karf Continue reading →

Cole Blaq: If destiny’s on a break, we control the action – Boilerplate & Beyond Vol. 7 [Interview]

For our seventh installment of weekly interviews, Keith Goldman goes urban. Take it away, Keith! If you have a Flickr account, and a decent list of contacts then your photo stream has probably been tagged by this week’s builder, Cole Blaq. Legally known as Aran Jitsukawa-Hudson (which is an awesome name and far more interesting Continue reading →

20000 studs under the sea

Fedde (Karf Oolhu) busts out the technic figs for this deceptively large but totally lovely personal SUB-21 submarine. I now sit in wait for comments about the lack of watertightness.

You know what street art needs? More frogs.

I’ve been noticing a plague of frogs in a variety of creations and it’s one of the coolest trends out there. Alex Schranz (“Orion Pax”) even incorporates frogs into his latest brick-built graffiti wall called PaxFrogriderstyle. Fedde (Karf Oolhu) also has a whole series of frog based creations, though my favorites are his civil defense Continue reading →

Welcome to the machine

Box guy meet Fedde (Karf Oolhu), Fedde meet box guy.

In your face

Karf Oolhu weirded me out. I think it was on purpose.

What is it with Australians and cybernetically enhanced trolls?

Among the many interesting things that eclectic (and talented) builder Karf Oolhu has posted recently is this brave troll, complete with both Gatling and ray guns. As always, that’s not the only interesting thing in Karf’s photostream. I love this microscale fuel refinery abuzz with activity.

Fedde is ready for some Big Jobs

Fedde (Karf Oolhu) has been hard at work constructing massive construction vehicles capable of taking on the most massive of construction jobs. The one above uses tank treads on the tires and Technic air intakes for the claw on the arm. Fedde’s earlier Utility Tractor is no less hunky:

Monkeying around with mysterious machines

Fedde (Karf Oolhu) has been having fun with LEGO monkeys lately. I’ve always thought that LEGO monkeys were fairly difficult to pose in interesting ways, but Fedda proves otherwise — particularly that monkey scratching himself with a monkey wrench. I just noticed that Fedda has more than 50 pictures in his Monkey Madness photoset. Lots Continue reading →

Dracopedes & Necrosorcerers

Fedde combines scorpions, crabs, dragon wings, and other disparate elements into one amazing whole he calls a “Dracopede”: And here’s another one we missed over the holidays. Fedde showcases his alter ego, the Necrosorcerer Karf Oolhu, “Making himself a +10 Crown of Magic Protection”:

Drilling deep

Fedde (Karf Oolhu) has dug deep into his heart (excuse the pun) and produced the glorious drilling machine “Doolittle”. Check out the lovely twisted stacks of teeth plates behind the main drill. I wonder if the two giant drills currently working somewhere beneath my feet inspired this.

Monkeys, to your Planes!

Karf Oolhu sets sail with a rolling aircraft carrier, manned by trolls and monkey pilots. Does that mean its really “trolled” and not “manned”? Does a land-based aircraft carrier set sail? I don’t know, the whole thing confuses me. I’m going to be wondering about that all day now. Just go check it out.
