It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes, it’s the holiday season, but it’s also the return of our annual LEGO advent calendar extravaganza. We’ll be opening our calendar windows every day in the run-up to Christmas. Our team will also share their thoughts, comments, observations and jokes about each day’s builds!
We have five advent calendars this year, across the City, Friends, Star Wars, Marvel (specifically Guardians of the Galaxy) and Harry Potter themes. Let’s get right into it and see what’s hiding behind the doors of day 6, shall we?
We get a double helping of figures in the Friends and City calendars today, with a young girl and a rather dashing fellow called Tippy respectively. I’m not sure what the lore is for Tippy – he seems to be dressed as a bell boy.
We also get a minifigure from the Harry Potter calendar in the form of Moaning Myrtle. Star Wars edges closer to leaving the prequel era with the Bad Batch’s transport shuttle. For Marvel, we get a box of… Stuff. I assume they’re mostly weapons or tools but honestly, they look like the spare parts you get after building a LEGO set.
Kyle: I’m not one for collecting minifigures, but that doorman and his cookie are wonderful!
Chris: The doorman is a fantastic figure, and I love seeing the cookie with sprinkles appear again (it was introduced in last year’s Winter Village set).
CJ: A nicely minifigure-heavy day. The doorman is nice, and the kid is cute, too. And a crate full of weapons means family infighting can be a bit more explosive this year.
Daniel: I like the kid with the big hair. That Bad Batch ship is too small in the middle though… Makes the wings look super huge.
Bart: The doorman reminds me of the bell boy in Home Alone.
It seems bell boy was a good guess! And a popular figure all around as well.

I know everyone is bagging on the last two Marvel days (and probably rightfully so), but today’s has the “one more thing we need to complete the plan: that guy’s eye!”
Tippy is a surprisingly major character in the Lego City Adventures cartoon. I’d go so far as to speculate that he’s part of the reason the City calendar seems to have sold out quickly–everyone wants to go to Paradoors.
I have the Guardians calendar and I actually love today’s build. It’s a pretty simple build, but it’s FULL of references to the movies. The arrow is Yondu’s arrow, the purple stud sandwich is the orb from the original Guardians, the prosthetic leg and eye are both parts of gags from the movies. The only thing I can’t place is the black and yellow piece, but that probably has some significance as well.
It’s Rocket’s tool box with fake leg, false eye and harbilary batteries…. I think

The yellow thing is one of the batteries from Guardians Vol 2. The same pieces are used in the Ayesha’s Revenge set for the same thing.
Sadly one of the two advent calendar did not have a tippy. It had a second Billy. Went to legos website where you have to piece it together and more than half of the pieces are OOS
