Following an exciting teaser, today, LEGO presents the next Technic licensed set, 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car. Becoming the first open-wheeler in nearly 10 years, the new McLaren’s 2022 F1 car is a massive surprise for all the racing fans. The set features 1,432 pieces and will be available starting March 1 for a hefty price of US $179.99 | CA $239.99 | 179,99 € | AU $279.99.

Formula 1 fans will notice that, although the model itself is from 2022, the livery belongs to the 2021 car. That’s because the actual 2022 car will only be presented by the team later this week. Obviously, the LEGO design team had no access to the new top-secret F1 design, so the brick-build model is a weird mix of two cars.

Dozens of new elements can be spotted on the official product pictures including the new larger and smaller panels, bizarre Technic frames, and, of course, the return of the massive tires from the Batman’s Tumbler.

The scale of the new McLaren Formula 1 car is roughly 1:8, which is quite reasonable considering the dimensions of the legendary sets like 8461 Williams F1 Team Racer and 8458 Silver Champion. The new car measures over 5 in. (13 cm) high, 25.5 in. (65 cm) long and 10.5 in. (27 cm) wide.

Despite lacking somewhat sophisticated mechanical features, the set promises great exterior design. Stay tuned for a detailed review of the new LEGO. Technic set here on The Brothers Brick later this month!
