2021 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 13

Happy holidays to all of our fellow LEGO builders! As is tradition, we at The Brothers Brick will be opening our advent calendars as we count down to Christmas. We’ll also be sharing commentary on each one, which we hope will provide insight and hilarity to your holiday season!

This year we have new Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel, City and Friends advent calendars to open. We will be sharing images of the new calendars every day through Christmas, and hope that you’ll join us! Let’s see what there is to open on Day 13.

It was another great day for Star Wars. We opened a Scout Trooper minifigure with the new dual-molded helmet. The Harry Potter build was basically unrecognizable. Marvel gave us a Hulk-sized stocking and a small wrapped gift.

The City build for Day 13 looked like something we would have expected from the Friends calendar, but it was still fun to put together the table and treats for Santa. Speaking of Friends, today’s gift was yet another microdoll, present and stocking.

Bart: The slumber party continues!

Adam: Is that a stocking for the Hulk? Pretty cool if you ask me. And I’m THRILLED that this came with a scout trooper.

CJ: Not too fond of the stocking ornament design -the 1×1 loaf bricks feel too narrow for the toe. But the colors are fun! And the growing army of munchkins is turning out to be a favorite of mine.

EdWhat’s the middle contraption, a trapdoor? Sounds a bit dark for an X-mas-themed item.

Not a bad day, to say the least. Join us again tomorrow for Day 14 of the 2021 LEGO Advent Calendar!

The Harry Potter item is a door to a vault at Gringotts. If you look at the cardboard base it’s clear that it fits on the square marked for it standing up and that tomorrow’s somehow connects.

The object from Harry Potter is much clearer if you sit it up on its edge and consider its relationship with the previous item, the bank cart that takes Harry to his vault – it is the aforementioned vault. Most of the items in the HP calendar are easier to identify if you consider them within the context of the preceeding days’ gifts, as the whole thing is meant to be a journey rather than a collection of disparate gifts.

The printing on my Scout Trooper’s helmet is off. Like, waaay off. Anyone else have this issue?

I hate to complain about people volunteering to do stuff on the internet, but really? This year’s coverage of the calendars has been appalling. Nobody believes it was “tongue in cheek” that no-one on the team recognised vault 687 even after opening Griphook and the rail trolley in previous days.

Y’all might want to just skip the Harry Potter advent calendar for these reviews, since you keep “tongue in cheek” and “pretending not to know what things are” (C’mon), meaning you basically aren’t reviewing half the items from it already.

I think it’s pretty hilarious how angry my fellow potterheads are getting with you. I think you should take it to the next level and start getting minifig names wrong, and start saying the mini builds are items and locales from fantastic beasts, or even some other series altogether :-)
