2021 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 10

Happy holidays to all of our fellow LEGO builders! As is tradition, we at The Brothers Brick will be opening our advent calendars as we count down to Christmas. We’ll also be sharing commentary on each one, which we hope will provide insight and hilarity to your holiday season!

This year we have new Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel, City, and Friends advent calendars to open. We will be sharing images of the new calendars every day through Christmas, and hope that you’ll join us! Let’s see what there is to open on Day 10.

At first look, it was impossible to figure out what today’s Star Wars, Harry Potter and Marvel builds were. We’re still unsure what the Harry Potter and Marvel builds are, but for Star Wars, we’re pretty sure it’s the Sand People grappling launcher from Season 2 of The Mandalorian.

The build from City was a micro-hospital. The City sets tend to have several micro-sized buildings included every year, often repeating the previous year’s builds but with different bricks. This one was great, using a 1×1 grey tile commonly found in recent Star Wars sets as the hospital’s cross sign.

The Friends’ set was cute but nearly just as mysterious as the first three builds of the day. Perhaps our esteemed panelists were able to figure out all of these unknown creations.

Bart: Hospital uses big needle to scare people away.

CJ: The “minifigure accessory on a microscale thing” is really starting to remind me of Bill Finger’s giant Batman props.

Chris: Ya, the “minifigure accessory on a microscale thing” doesn’t work so well if you ask me. That Tusken Blaster™ is….well, it wouldn’t be my first choice, but I guess you need something to go pew-pew. The Friends wrapping station and chair are decent.

Ed: I’m really confused about what these things are and I can’t really tell from which of the advent calendars are they from. Thing number 1, looks like a tiny build of a vulture. The middle brown thingy, what is it? Someone help me, please. A piano? And that blue red thingy, Spiderman’s spacecraft thingy or something? I’m lost with these.

Ed, taking another look at the Star Wars build: Okay, looks like the vulture contraption is a weapon of sorts for the Tusken Raider.

It was a weird day, but at least the Tusken Raider got everything he wanted for Christmas!

Join us tomorrow for Day 11 of the 2021 LEGO Advent Calendar!

The Marvel piece looks like some type of drone. My daughter had a bit of difficulty with this build. She asked for my help as she had no idea what it was.

Star Wars: Tusken Ballista from MandoS2E1
    Harry Potter: Gringott’s Bank Counter
    Marvel: Mysterio’s Drone from SM:FFH

  3. Natalie

The Marvel thing looks like a drone from “Far From Home” but the colour is wrong. Maybe it’s a festive drone?

The Harry Potter build is the banking desk from Gringots bank. These are going chronologically through the book. Yesterday was the wall into Diagon Alley. Based on the “game board” and pictures on the box, we will see a goblin or the minecart to the Gringots vault tomorrow

It makes sense that Spider-Man would repaint the drones to more closely associate them with himself. Branding is very important for super heroes.

Very surprised by all these “we don’t know what these are” comments. I assume the reviewers aren’t very into the Harry Potter and marvel which is a little odd considering the subjects of the review.

OK, so based on the individual days’ comments so far, I can only assume that the panel is being deliberately obtuse and trying not to spoil things for the general public or they do not have access to at least pictures of the calendar boxes, as a majority of the builds are given context by the images on the box.

If you can find the time, watch the first Harry Potter movie before you open the next day. I think it will help you make sense of the calendar. As a potter fan, i really like some of these cute little builds, although predicting what is next kind of ruins it for me a little.
