Happy holidays to all of our fellow LEGO builders! As is tradition, we at The Brothers Brick will be opening our advent calendars as we count down to Christmas. We’ll also be sharing commentary on each one, which will be both insightful and hilarious!

This year we have new Harry Potter, Star Wars, City and Friends advent calendars to open. We will be sharing images of the new calendars every day through Christmas, and hope that you’ll join us! Let’s see what there is to open on Day 22.

Wow! Today’s opening gave us two incredible minifigures: Hermione Granger in her Yule Ball dress from the Harry Potter calendar, and a stormtrooper from Star Wars.

Chuck: There are some strong Hermione/Leia/”I basically rescued myself and took care of you” parallels…

Benjamin: I feel like Durmstrang is just being typecast now. We were supposed to think they were all supporters of Voldemort in the book, and now of the Empire. They’re not bad guys! Not even Krum!

Bart: Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?

Adam: Ron was a little more intimidated by Hermione’s new date than he was by Victor Krum. Glad to see we got a stormtrooper and Hermione looks great!

Lino: Hermione didn’t worry. She knew Ron’s aim was bad, even for a stormtrooper.

Alexander: You all joking about Ron and Hermione, but I can totally see these as a nice idea for New Year party costumes. I would totally try this with my girlfriend; she’s always been a fan of Empire, and I’m sure I’ll find the dress that fits me just right…

The boat from City and the sled from Friends are important builds that go with things we’ve already made from those calendars.

Adam: Pro tip: the boat fits perfectly on the trailer hauled by the truck, and the sled fits with the snowmobile from Day 21.

Benjamin: This looks like the start to the next Bond movie.

CJ: So we get a boat for the trailer. Okay. I was thinking more wrapped packages might make more holiday sense, but I suppose that depends on the scale these vehicles are meant to be at. Are they toys for the minifigures? Full sized-vehicles just at a tiny scale? The world may never know. Also as expected, we get a sled to attach to the Friends snowmobile. We get a wrapped gift here, so that’s a holiday point for the day, too.

Lino: Give me a fast boat, a sled and a dilapidated building and I’ll give you drama.

Jasmine: The Friends build looks very aerodynamic, the wrapped gift included.
