This 3,000+ piece 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina is the next LEGO Star Wars Master Builder Series set [News]

While a few images of the set were revealed in our article last week, today LEGO is fully revealing the next Star Wars Master Builder Series set, 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina. The newest version of the iconic Star Wars location includes 3,187 pieces. It is accompanied by 21 minifigures (plus Artoo), including many characters that have never appeared in any other LEGO Star Wars set. The set will retail for US $349.99 | UK £319.99 | EUR 349.99 starting sales on September 16 for LEGO VIP members and then globally from October 1, directly via LEGO.com and LEGO Stores.

Mos Eisley Cantina has three predecessors: 4501 from 2004, 75052 from 2014, and 75205 from 2018. Ranging between a mere 193 pieces and 615 pieces, none of them come close to the sheer size of this Master Builder Series set, which bears the new 18+ age bracket.

Once built, the 3,187-piece LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina construction set makes for a very large display piece, standing at over 7.5” (19cm) high, 20.5” (52cm) wide and 23” (58cm) deep when opened.

This building kit opens up and the roof is removable, revealing all the interior details and giving you access to the iconic Star Wars location.

Naturally, the set includes all the main characters.

Let’s start with the usual suspects. Here are the minifigures of Luke, Obi-Wan, Han, C-3PO, R2-D2, and Chewbacca. Out of all these characters, Han is the only one to be featured in all 3 previous versions of the Mos Eisley Cantina. Luke and Obi-Wan have been featured twice and the rest of them are new to the Cantina, but of course, have appeared in many other LEGO Star Wars sets.

Mos Eisley Cantina wouldn’t be complete without the Bith Musician Band (known as The Modal Nodes). Although canonically the band leader is named Figrin D’an, LEGO names all three of these characters as simply Bith Musicians. There’s also Wuher the bartender, Greedo, and a Jawa. Both Wuher and the Bith musicians have been featured in one of the previous versions of Mos Eisley Cantina. Greedo is one of the steady staples who has been featured in all the Mos Eisley Cantina sets.

A whole lot of characters get the LEGO treatment for the first time. LEGO’s press release says there are eight new characters, though we count only seven. We can’t confirm yet if this is an error in the press release or if there’s a secret 22nd minifigure not disclosed on the box art. The new minifigures we do know about are Hrchek Kal Fas, Ponda Baba, Dr. Evazan, Garindan, Labria, Momaw Nadon, and Kabe.

And of course, we cannot forget about the Sandtroopers. These also have been featured in all previous editions of the Cantina and many other sets.

A big Mos Eisley Cantina playset wouldn’t be complete without a spherical Ubrikkian 9000 Z001 landspeeder, a Dewback, and a V-35 Courier landspeeder. The Z001 and the Dewback have appeared in previous sets, but the V-35 is new in LEGO form to this set.

The set will retail for USD $349.99 | EUR 349.99 | GBP £319.99 | BRL 3299.99 | MXN 7499.0 | AUD 529.99 | NZD 599.99. It will be starting sales on September 16 for LEGO VIP members and then globally from October 1, directly via LEGO.com and LEGO Stores.

“The first time I watched the Cantina scene in Star Wars: A New Hope, I was just 12 years old. I remember thinking, ‘this is where the adventure starts!’ Years later, when I then became a LEGO® Star Wars ™ designer in 2016, this was the first set I built. With this design, we’ve added external buildings like the Jawa shop, refined the details, and chosen an impressive 21 minifigure characters, including all-new alien figures. I love that all Star Wars characters have cool backstories, no matter how briefly they appear, it wasn’t easy to decide which characters to include in the set, but we hope fans will love the entire model and its line-up of heroes and villains.”

There is a huge variety of LEGO® Star Wars™ building sets available to delight fans including the LEGO Star Wars Luke’s Landspeeder helping you reimagine your favourite Star Wars A New Hope scenes, or create their own epic stories or just build and display the awesome models, such as the TIE Fighter Pilot HELMET™ and A-Wing Starfighter™. The LEGO® Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina™ construction set will be available for LEGO VIP members from 16th September and then globally from 1st October, directly via LEGO.com and LEGO Stores.

Hm, I really wish they’d done the IG-11/IG-88 minifigs’ heads the way they did it here (In the films, the same prop is used for IG-88 as is used for some behind-the-bar equipment in this cantina).

(“Labria”?! What’s next, you’re gonna tell me that the Modal Nodes were playing a type of music with a dirty name?)
