LEGO Ideas second 2020 Results breaks record with 35 fan submissions qualifying for productisation review [News]

LEGO just announced a new record of 35 submissions by fan creation  submissions to be considered for the second 2020 review, the highest ever amount since the inception of the programme for a single review period.  The first review earlier this year had 26 submissions, making it a total of 61 sets now in the pipeline of options for LEGO to decide what creations would be made into official LEGO sets.

The qualifying entry period for these sets were between early-May and September 7 2020. These creations all had tremendous support from the community and the threshold to meet the criteria of 10,000 votes on the LEGO Ideas platform. Below are the 35 qualifying fan creations.

Rooting for Seagull Bay Lighthouse Imperial Fortress and Caribbean Clipper! Those are the perfect sets to go with Barracuda Bay!

I’m always here for nice, interesting car builds. I don’t have my hopes up, but I’d love to see the M1 make it.

  3. Some One

Interesting that more than half the contenders are derivative of some TV show, game, movie, or product. It doesn’t look like the 10,000 rule bubbles up much creativity; recognizable pop culture wins over originality most of the time.

  4. Exxos

mountain windmill and temple of the hermit look good. Quite a few nice ones overall, but most are too pop culture or too hard to make a reality (I’d love Starry Night, but to do it well, that set would be about 8000 pieces).

  5. Pilop

There are several contenders which I think have the potential to become a whole series. Like instead of only Van Goghs Starry Night a whole series of Lego versions of famous paintings. Or instead of only a bonsai a whole series of miniature plants as Lego alternatives to artificial plants/flowers. Doggo could be expanded to other pets and at least based on the number of recent MOCs there seems to be a kind of revival of the pirate theming.
