Bring some bling to your brick: custom chrome Ferrari F12

During my research for our review of the new LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián, I found myself reading about Ferrari’s infamous pickiness regarding the customization owners can do to their cars. But LEGO builder Lachlan Cameron has designed a beautiful Technic Ferrari F12 and then customized it in a way that I think even Ferrari would approve–a luscious cherry chrome paint job supplied by Bubul Chrome.

LEGO itself has made many chrome elements over the years, though as LEGO shifts to drum-laquer elements instead only a single chrome element remains in production, the One Ring. But no set has ever been fully decked out in the stuff, as amazing as that would have been–the UCS Naboo Starfighter was probably as close as we’ll ever get. But the full cladding in chrome red here looks magnificent. However, don’t let that distract you from the build itself, which is brilliant in imitating the clean profile of the grand tourer, with rows of Technic pin connectors and beams strung on flexible axles to create the wheel arches and front fascia.

And it’s not all just pretty looks on the outside. It’s got all the right stuff inside, too, with an opening hood, rear deck, and doors (and alternate custom-chromed gold rims).

In fact, I’d go so far as to say that LEGO’s own supercar models could take a lesson from Lachlan on interior design, as the F12’s smooth cabin is far superior to the ones in the official supercar models, which we criticized as being underwhelming.

And yes, it’s got lights, too, with the distinct rows of LED headlights being fully functional, along with the taillights.
