LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71027 Series 20 Feel Guide [Review]

Last month we took an early look at the latest wave of LEGO Collectible Minifigures, 71027 Series 20, with a full in-depth review. Our in-depth review should serve as a guide to help you figure out if you want to collect the whole series, or just a few specific characters that are most interesting to you, especially since the new series is priced at US $4.99 | CAN $4.99 | UK £3.49, a new high price for non-licensed minifigures (though some retailers are selling them for less than LEGO’s MSRP). As always, we source our reviews from a full case which we sort by feel before opening any packs. This means that we can bring you one of the best feel guides on the internet, since we’ve compiled our Feel Guide through hands-on experience.

71027 Collectible Minifigures Series 20 are available now at LEGO.com for US $4.99 | CAN $4.99 | UK £3.49, as well as from third-party sellers on Amazon and eBay.

Normally, we’d suggest using our Feel Guide to determine which figures you want to purchase from a store. However, with the current coronavirus risks, it’s a very bad idea to handle packs and place them back on the shelf, spreading your germs to others, and also potentially picking up those of people who’ve handled them before you. For the time being, please DO NOT feel packs in a store.

Instead, many online retailers sell full cases, and some brick-and-mortar stores allow customers to purchase them, and we strongly urge you to go this route and split a case with friends (with appropriate sanitation of the packs after you sort). You can purchase a full case directly from LEGO for US $299.40 | CAN $299.40, and each case contains three full sets plus some extras, so splitting a case three ways gives everyone a full set of 16 and four extra figures.

To save you some time, there’s a shortcut you can use when sorting a brand new case. The first 10 figures in each row are in a specific order. We definitely recommend using the Feel Guide to confirm any figures you select this way, since occasionally the figures get knocked out of order during shipping, but it gives a good starting point.

Starting at the front, the first 10 figures are:

  1. Viking
  2. Athlete
  3. Llama
  4. Breakdancer
  5. Piñata Boy
  6. Pajama Girl
  7. Tournament Knight
  8. Super Warrior
  9. Sea Rescuer
  10. Drone Boy

After that, the figures tend to be in an A-B-A-B pattern, but aren’t the same across rows and we can’t confirm that all cases are packed the same.

You can download a PDF of this cheat sheet to use on your phone, or print out if you prefer a more old-school approach. The tips we outline below are not the only way to identify the figures. For instance, many of the heads and hair/hat pieces are also unique, but they can be difficult to distinguish through the plastic packaging. Instead, we’ve settled on the one or two elements that are easiest to feel through the packaging and should instantly give you a positive ID.

As always, each of the characters includes a standard black minifigure stand, so just like the torsos, heads, and legs they can be ignored since they are identical across all figures.

71027 Collectible Minifigures Series 20 are available now from the LEGO Shop Online for US $4.99 | CAN $4.99 | UK £3.49, or in full cases for US $299.40 | CAN $299.40.

Both individual figures and cases may also be available via third-party sellers on Amazon and eBay.

The LEGO Group sent The Brothers Brick an early copy of this series for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.

Seeing that Viking makes me really wish LEGO would relaunch their super brief Vikings Line.
