LEGO reveals Creator Expert football stadium 10272 Old Trafford – Manchester United [News]

LEGO has officially unveiled its newest Creator Expert set, 10272 Old Trafford – Manchester United, a massive 3,898-piece model based on the Old Trafford soccer stadium in Greater Manchester, England, which serves as the home of Manchester United F.C. The 1:600 replica model will be available directly from LEGO for US $299.99 | CAN $349.99 | UK £249.99 starting January 16, 2020 — just in time for the stadium’s 110th anniversary this February.

Such a stunning LEGO set is bound to be a hit with soccer fans and sportsmen all around the world, including the most prominent LEGO fan on the field, David Beckham. We are sure, it’s just a matter of time before David shares a couple of pictures of the latest addition to his LEGO collection on his Instagram page.

Unlike many other LEGO Creator Expert sets, which have bright and colorful packaging, Old Trafford stadium comes in a box of basic design with a black background. The huge Creator logo on the top is probably the only thing that tells us that this is not another LEGO Architecture product.

The set’s almost 4,000 pieces come together to form a massive structure measuring 6.5” (18.5cm) high, 18” (47cm) long and 15” (39cm) wide, which easily makes it a centerpiece of any living room’s interior.

LEGO Designers have painstakingly attempted to recreate all aspects of the brick-built version to be as accurate to the real thing as much as possible from the colors and tones right down to the tiny representation of the United Trinity (George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton) statues and players’ tunnel.

The stadium was designed in a modular structure to be easily transported or stored away. It comes apart in five sections that use Technic pins to secure them making it strong enough for solid connections yet easy enough to detach when needed.

The main football pitch that sits in the center is can be taken apart in one piece, The North Stand (Sir Alex Ferguson Stand) together with the North-East and North-West Quadrants is a section on its own. The remaining 3 stands, East, South (Sir Bobby Charlton Stand) and West (Stretford End) come apart as separate sections as well.

The luscious green football GrassMaster hybrid pitch is recreated with printed tiles measured to accuracy and scaled to the goalposts.

The iconic red seating areas spells out the various sections with sticker placements. Various stickers are placed around the stands to bring the full experience of the atmosphere during a match. The advertising all around the football pitch all spell out MANUTD.COM embracing home grounds support for the Manchester United Football Club.

Viewing angles from all seating areas provide miniature excitement for fans who’ve not been able to make the pilgrimage to Old Trafford, and perhaps memories to be triggered for those that have watched a live match in the stadium.

The entrance features the tall glass panels highlighted in bricks with 1×2 transparent tiles and featuring a micro-figure of Sir Matt Busby, regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time.

Also featured are statues facing the stadium structure representing George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton, who collectively helped Manchester United become the first-ever English club team to win the European Cup in 1968.

Over at the north stand and it’s namesake, a micro figure of Sir Alex Ferguson stands proudly.

The exterior of the stadium paneling features details of the facade of various public entrances and access to the stadium with designated transport stop areas. A large amount of detailing on this stadium is text-based, which will potentially be customized with stickers. Printed bricks which have the potential for reusability such as doors add to the highlight.

Kickoff is on January 16th 2020 when the model will be available directly from LEGO Retail Stores online exclusively for LEGO VIP members, with general availability beginning February 1st 2020, just in time for the stadium’s 110th anniversary.

The 3,898-piece LEGO 10272 Old Trafford – Manchester United will retail for US $299.99 | CAN $349.99 | UK £249.99.

I love the execution of this set… but I cannot get around the idea to support Manchester United in any ways…

Lets hope the printed tiles are better quality than those in the mustang set otherwise it will look like the pitch was painted by a drunk.

  3. Cringing

This article is rough. Grammatically, it is harsh, but it also sounds like it was written by someone trying to sound Sports-y while not knowing anything about sports. Did anybody edit this thing?

Not really anything I’d be interested in.
I don’t know anyone that would be interested in this.
Does not really look like something that will put good pieces into Bricklink.
And are there really enough MU/Lego fans overlap to make this financially justified to produce?

This seems like a bit of a weird mistake.
