2019 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 13

Welcome to Day 13 of our LEGO Advent Calendar countdown. Each day, we’ll reveal the four mini-builds from the LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Friends, and LEGO City 2019 advent calendars along with commentary from The Brothers Brick team.

If you’re opening one (or more) of these advent calendars along with us, we’ve made sure the pictures and commentary on each day’s models will be behind a jump so we don’t accidentally ruin the surprise. Will Day 13 be routine?

For Day 13, we have a Ravenclaw flag stand from Harry Potter and a Mouse Droid from Star Wars.

Dave: The completionist in me is excited to get the penultimate pennant, this time in Ravenclaw colors! The silver flag is new to this set and the second one we’ve received after the Slytherin one from Day 9. For Star Wars… this has to be one of the saddest builds ever. Six pieces to create a mouse droid. At this scale, LEGO should have added the pieces to build two more mouse droids and included a few yellow cheese wedges for a bit of humor! If you want a true LEGO mouse droid, get the new BOOST Droid Commander set.

Lino: If you order today you get a free mouse droid pendant.

Daniel: Um, unless there is a sudden shortage of headlight bricks in black, this looks like a mistake.

Benjamin: Daniel, it is actually a Bat-droid, not a mouse droid. They only work in black, and sometimes, very dark grey.

Edwinder: How cute! A miniature cow!! Mooooooooo!!

Chris: Hey, another exclusive silver flag? Sweet!

Continuing with Day 13, we have a Santa robot from Friends and a Grandma from City.

Dave: For Friends, we have “Zobo” the robot in a Santa costume. Zobo has made many appearances in Friends sets, though this one feels like it should have come near the end of the advent calendar where most Santa-related builds typically are found. This robot looks decent, but is more suited for hanging as an ornament since there is no way for it to stand on its own balancing on just the wheels. (I cheated and propped up the robot on a clear brick for the photo.) The Grandma minifig from City is great, and the torso has only been in a few sets, first appearing in 70657 Ninjago City Docks.

Lino: Grandma always wanted a Krunk-Bot 3000.

Daniel: The robot apocalypse has begun. It’s the Krampus-bot!

Benjamin: Isn’t the Santa supposed to be at the end?

Ryan: JOLL-E

Chris: Somehow, I can’t help but think this is the Christmas robotic version of Elton John.

Whenever we can, we’ll mash up all the LEGO advent calendar builds from that specific day and see what kind of hilarity ensues. Please enjoy these hijinks!

Dave: The rocking chair from yesterday makes a bit more sense now, though the Friends roller skate feels like the mouse droid’s momma!

Lino: Five second rule…

Daniel: Bots like cookies too.

Benjamin: If you give a mouse droid a cookie, it’ll ask for a grandma to bake more?

Chris: I still maintain that even with context, that rocking chair is an MVP: Minimum Viable Product. Sure, it’s technically a chair that rocks, but it’s totally lame and featureless in every other way.

Our City grandma came with a book as well. She looks pretty chilled in yesterday’s rocking chair. Was it in your set?

Possible spoiler: We got the book on a later date, but it does appear it was supposed to be included in today’s City advent build. We’ve also seen a few reports of people getting duplicate days too.
