2019 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 7

Welcome to Day 7 of our LEGO Advent Calendar countdown. Each day, we’ll reveal the four mini-builds from the LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Friends, and LEGO City 2019 advent calendars along with commentary from The Brothers Brick team.

If you’re opening one (or more) of these advent calendars along with us, we’ve made sure the pictures and commentary on each day’s models will be behind a jump so we don’t accidentally ruin the surprise. Will Day 7 make an impression?

For Day 7, we have table with gold goblets from Harry Potter and Chewbacca with a fire pit from Star Wars.

Dave: I really admire this table design. It is one of the few that minifigs can actually sit at (or stand at if the have the short legs). To have such a stable table as part of an advent build is an accomplishment, and it conveys the feeling of the Hogwarts Great HallFor Star Wars, Chewie finally gets his first taste of Porg meat!

Alexander: * insert a Porg joke here *

Lino: Reservations for one.

Ryan: Chewie hasn’t quite grokked Tinder.

Matt: Only one Wookiee will be left sitting on the Iron Throne.

Rod: Brown. So much brown. Practically a Steampunk Advent.

Chris: I’m actually fairly impressed with the bench as a standalone model that doesn’t need a baseplate.

Daniel: She told me she had to wash her hair… For a Wookie that does take all night.

Continuing with Day 7, we have a walkie-talkie ornament from Friends and a boy with a propeller hat from City.

Dave: For Friends, I like the walkie-talkie ornament. This again incorporates the handle as the place where you would hand it on a tree. For a 12-part build, I think it is well done and instantly recognizable. For City, it is nice to get a propeller hat. Those have only been available so far in the Fair People Pack and Donut Shop and you get a few extra.

Alexander: Please tell me there will be the second walkie-talkie in the set. Otherwise, having just one device is pretty… depressing.

Lino: “A giant walkie-talkie, a cookie, a green sweater and a silly hat…yes, that’s what I got for Christmas that year. Other Christmases weren’t much better, Your Honor, and that is why I am appealing this conviction today, if it would please the court.”

Ryan: I swear to the Mindflayer if someone makes a Stranger Things Neverending Story reference here I’ll … Oops.

Andrew: It was a surprisingly lovely rendition of an iconic song. Where’s your soul?!

Matt: You’ve heard of the book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie? Meet the disappointing sequel.

Chris: The Friends calendar is mini-doll scale, so where does this giant walkie-talkie fit in?

Edwinder: What walkie-talkie? That’s a time machine. Hit that orange activation button and take a dive into the round portal opening! Oh yeah, Rule no. 27 of time travel, bring cookie as a peace offering and remember to dress up as geeky as possible!

Whenever we can, we’ll mash up all the LEGO advent calendar builds from that specific day and see what kind of hilarity ensues. Please enjoy these hijinks!

Dave: The walkie-talkie can become a boombox almost instantly to provide tunes for the Porg and Wookie Cookie feast.

Lino: “He’s really quite gracious when you don’t make eye contact.”

Andrew: Let the Wookiee have the cookie.

Matt: Having pets at the dinner table isn’t an issue for this family.

Chris: Serious question: do they even still sell propeller beanies anymore? Or is it a relic trope of a bygone era, like slipping on a banana peel?

Edwinder: Chewy: RWARRRR RWARR RRR (That’s PORG meat)
Propeller Kid: My favourite!

Hmmm, “Wookie’s Shack of Porgs and Cookies”, could that be a spinoff franchise of “Roscoe’s House of Chickens and Waffles”?
