Today LEGO has announced a new licensing partnership with Dreamworks for the upcoming Trolls World Tour film. The film is slated for release April 17, 2020. So far LEGO has only revealed a teaser trailer showing a variety of the new minifigures. These new minifigures encapsulate the classic Troll doll look, with big heads, crazy hair, and outrageous personalities. There’s no word yet on when the LEGO Trolls World Tour theme will be available.
So, legitimately there are some Trolls fans but this is objectively not a great LEGO property. I’m sure it will have some good parts but there was a LOT of IP that passed LEGO by without any attempt to capitalize. I really feel like the folks who are managing the line lately are asleep at the wheel when this stuff happens.
Hmmm, it seems as if there are separate hair pieces and headgear from the rest of the head. The trolls’ actual heads are a lot wider than regular minifig heads, though, so I’m not sure on how compatible they will be, alas.
I think you may not be aware how the 5 and under set respond to the trolls movie(s). I saw this and thought to myself that my daughter will go nuts for this.
