#10. 2018 LEGO Speed Champions sets revealed
Coming in at number 10, we brought you official images of the complete LEGO Speed Champions 2018 line-up back in January. From Ferraris to Mustangs, you went gaga over everything new coming down the speedway, stickers and all.
#9. The magical world of LEGO Harry Potter is back with a fascinating lineup of sets
It isn’t often that a LEGO theme comes back from the dead, and you guys certainly noticed because nearly half the news articles on this list are from the Wizarding World. First up was the reveal of some of the smaller sets including the Hogwarts Express and a new Quidditch pitch. Who knows what sets will come next in the resurrected theme?
#8. LEGO unveils massive 10261 Creator Expert Roller Coaster
A rumor from the instant the new roller coaster elements initially appeared in 70922 Joker Manor, the announcement of the 10261 Creator Expert Roller Coaster made people scream in delight. From creative cotton candy to the option to motorize, we found that the massive set was worth the wait.
#7. Full lineup of LEGO Blizzard Overwatch sets revealed, available in January
LEGO turned the gaming world on its head by announcing a full lineup of sets inspired by the hit game Overwatch. The new theme puzzled some LEGO fans and delighted others. From pink mechs to a big Bastion, get your shopping lists ready because these sets hit the market in just a few days on January 2.
#6. LEGO Wizarding World of Harry Potter collectible minifigures series revealed
The second LEGO Harry Potter-themed news article in our Top 10 came from the announcement of a collectible minifigure series based on the entire Wizarding World including Fantastic Beasts. Our review of the series and feel guide proved to be quite popular when it came down to chasing the elusive Graves or stocking up on the new bendable “teen” legs.
#5. 10264 Corner Garage revealed as 2019 LEGO Creator Expert Modular Building
We are halfway through the list, and Creator Expert is back again with another set announced earlier this month! The 10264 Corner Garage is a three-story building with a vehicle workshop and gas station, animal clinic and a top-floor apartment. The new modular brings back dark orange in force and will be available for purchase on Jan 1.
#4. LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 18 revealed
The 40th anniversary of the minifigure came and went this year, and LEGO celebrated with an entire set of costumed characters. From birthday-themed cakes and balloons to a cowboy, cactus and cat costume, the series is one of the most creative we have seen yet. Did you get the chase figure, a replica of the original policeman minifigure?
#3. 6,000-piece LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle 71043 revealed as 2nd-largest LEGO set ever
After the initial wave of Harry Potter playsets were released, LEGO unveiled this behemoth 6,000 piece “microscale” Hogwarts Castle, ranking it as the second-largest LEGO set of all time. From new architectural elements to tiny printed trophy-figures, the set rose to the top of many fan’s Christmas lists and even inspired our Microscale Magic building competition.
#2. Nineteen new sets revealed from The LEGO Movie 2
A surprise last-minute entry to our most read news articles of the year, LEGO announced a whopping nineteen sets from the upcoming LEGO Movie 2. The classic space battle pack and a new “vibrant coral” color made us even more excited for the film that arrives in February, but the sets are already available as of this week.
