LEGO reveals 10263 Winter Village Fire Station as their next holiday set [News]

Every year since 2009, LEGO has released an addition to their Winter Village theme. Following last year’s 10259 Winter Village Station, LEGO has revealed that the model for 2018 will be another type of station — a fire station! 10263 Winter Village Fire Station includes 1,166 pieces, six minifigures and a baby, a Dalmatian, red fire truck, frozen fountain and a Christmas tree.

The set will retail for $99.99 starting on October 1, with LEGO VIP availability beginning on September 13.

It has been six years since the yearly holiday set followed the loose Winter Village formula of a front-facing building that could be easily incorporated into a city street. 10229 Winter Village Cottage was the last set in that vein (excluding the re-release of 10249 Winter Toy Shop). Since then, the sets have been much more varied in size and shape represented by the carousel of the 10235 Winter Village Market, the angled footprint of 10245 Santa’s Workshop, and the two-year combination of the 10254 Winter Holiday Train and 10259 Winter Village Station.

The Winter Village Fire Station is going back to tradition, using dark red coloring with tan accents to create a charming and snowy building housing the local fire department. The complete array of smaller builds includes the traditional lamp, bench, and a sled, as well as a new variant of Christmas tree. It will be the third-largest Winter Village set by piece count, but measures the tallest, coming in at 9 inches in height.

A closer look at the building itself reveals that LEGO is certainly taking advantage of the newer plant elements for festive decorations as well as minifigure paint rollers for lamp holders and overhanging tooth elements for icicles.

The back of the two-story building reveals a break room with a fold-out bed for our hard-working firefighters, a fire pole for quick access to the garage as well as a snowman out front with a curved top hat for the first time in a Winter Village set. The set also includes the traditional light brick to illuminate the fire station.

Looking at the fire truck, we see that the LEGO designer opted for a very minimalist take while still matching the vehicle to the mid-early century stylings common to previous Winter Village sets. The truck includes a rotating ladder which can be used to help minifigures get the star on the top of the tree.

The tree looks to be a new design (and LEGO has made a TON of different Christmas tree types), and the frozen fountain and reflecting pool is a nice addition to fill out the set. Curiously, there are no actual flame elements in the set, so if you want to have the firefighters put out a burning home or Christmas tree, you will have to figuratively light them on fire yourself.

The set comes with six minifigures, a baby, a Dalmation and a brick-built snowman. The minifiures include three firefighters, a musician with saxophone, an ice hockey player, and a girl with a scarf. The baby comes with an adorable green sweater with a moose printed on it.
