DC Super Heroes San Diego Comic-Con 2018 LEGO Exclusive revealed [News]

The first San Diego Comic-Con 2018 LEGO Exclusive — 75512 Millennium Falcon Cockpit — was just revealed yesterday. The new day brings us the next SDCC 2018 set — 75996 DC Super Heroes Aquaman and Storm, and a closer look at yesterday’s reveal. A first-look at DC‘s iconic Aquaman and Storm from their original animated TV appearances in the ’60s as a collectible LEGO building set, which will be exclusively sold at San Diego Comic-Con.

Looking at the elements, fans would rejoice as it seems that there appear to be no unique parts to build in these on your own. Both Minifigures in the Star Wars set come from the recent Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212). What is unique is the vertically oriented box that’s designed like a comic book cover featuring line art instead of photorealistic scene. Collectors of boxed sets would certainly want to have this in their collection simply for the uniqueness of that old-school look. The third and final set will be revealed soon.

2018 San Diego Comic-Con will begin on Thursday, 19 July and ends on Sunday, 22 July

    Hmmm, it seems likely that it’ll be a Marvel set. Could it be a reference to the 60’s Spider-Man TV series? (Although that doesn’t have any particularly iconic vehicles or characters different from the comic books.)

    Then, I guess it could also be an Ant-Man tie-in, or some J. K. Rowling spinoff…

    Take out the line about minifigures from the kessel run millennium falcon, as I don’t believe aquaman is available in that set ;)

    As for the Star Wars set, I read that since Solo was met by underwhelmed audience and critics, and performed correspondingly underwhelming, LucasArts have decided to put the spinoff series on hold and focus on the main films. A bit sad, since I actually liked the grittier Rogue One.

    I’ve heard there is a Ant-man set coming. If these are the only sets that Lego has chosen to flip (most of) us the bird with, then I’ll count myself less unprivileged than in previous years.

    @Gomek

    There was widespread criticism from fans about the artificial scarcity of the unique minifigs and parts of several earlier sets, so – since these sets mainly are produced for marketing the brand, to begin with – I’d guess that Lego decided to go for just unique packaging this year instead of alienating the vocal fanbase any further.
