While LEGO’s own official Ferris Wheel set stands at a measly 23 inches (60cm) high, this World record holding LEGO Ferris Wheel is a whopping 12 feet (365cm) high. Built by Tomáš Kašpařík, the same builder as brought us the amazing wooden-style LEGO rollercoaster, this creation contains over 40,000 parts and took around 300 hours to build. Amazingly, the ferris wheel is powered by 2 small LEGO Power Functions motors.
If you want to have a go on this massive ride , then Tomáš has taken a video showing the ferris wheel in action and it includes a view from a seat on the ride.
A couple of stills from the video put the size of this LEGO creation into perspective. It was on show at LEGO World Copenhagen and understandably caught the attention of the crowd.
You can see the model in Prague at the Hamleys store in the basement – there is a nice installation of various models based on real life buildings in the Czech republic.
Definitely worth the visit!
Actually, the one in Prague is about half the size, but still 235cm high and definitely worth seeing :-)
How long does it take for a full rotation of the Ferris Wheel? Dying to know!
Also, if you have the measurement up to the center of the wheel, that would be great too.

Tomas replied – “at the usual speed I set it on, it takes about four and a half minutes per turn. The diameter of the wheel frame is about 332cm”

John, I meant to add that Tomas has only used LEGO in his build and the weight of the wheel (without carriages) is 11kg and about 15kg with carriages.
