Star Wars celebrated its fortieth birthday last year, which was when this beautiful forced perspective by Jme Wheeler was built, within a 40-part series of builds for the Blocks magazine, telling the whole story of A New Hope.
I love the colours in the sky and the micro version of Mos Eisley is beautiful in its simplicity. The angle on the Millennium Falcon flying away is very expressive, with stormtroopers looking up at it, completing the scene.
These two spacecrafts by ZCerberus are geared up for intergalactic war. The missile corvette appears to be an armored and mobile unit with cannons mounted on the top capable of dismantling the enemy from multiple angles.
The battle frigate is a much larger and formidable vessel capable of dishing out a serious beating. Both spacecrafts feature a striking orange hull with white ID numbers. The white box pattern along with the dark orange stripes are subtle but well-incorporated design features. Prepare to be annihilated in style!
The new beehive piece, which appeared this January in a couple of the new City police sets, was wholeheartedly approved by LEGO fans. Its simple shape is instantly recognizable, yet it has some great potential for truly creative applications. Grantmasters starts exploring the new piece with this amazing little bee — and the beehive piece looks just fantastic here. By the way, the fairy wings piece contributes a lot to the bee’s adorable character.
Do you ever look at a picture and think, “If I had a band, this would be the album cover”? If you share in my very specific type of daydreaming, this build by Leonid An should be on your shortlist. Titled “Birth”, it will probably remind many of the scene from The Matrix when Neo wakes up, but I’m far more interested in the meticulous part usage that went into making this little art piece so cohesive. The sides are built up with what looks to be hundreds of Technic pieces, and even a few wheels thrown in for good measure.
The centre pod is the obvious focus, using the old Bionicle Rahkshi pieces to make the middle oval. This is surrounded by layers of tentacle pieces, and I do mean layers. What isn’t immediately noticeable from this angle is the fact that the pod is raised up from the rest of the build. It’s better seen in the picture below.
A few weeks ago, LEGO announced the release of the first LEGO Ideas set in 2018, 21313 Ship in a Bottle, available at the LEGO Shop online. The successful LEGO Ideas project was originally submitted by Jake Sadovich and is a LEGO version of the classic concept of a ship in a bottle — a perfect mix of art and craftsmanship.
The set contains 962 pieces and retails for $69 (obviously with variations in other countries), which falls deep within the magic 10 cents per piece zone. However, you will need to judge the real value for yourself, as several hundred of the elements that make up the part count are sized 1×1 or 1×2, most notably the 284 1×1 round plates in translucent light blue.

Darth Vader is probably one of the most iconic fictional villains. Constantinos and Petros Nicolaou have built their own life-sized LEGO version of Darth Vader’s head. The brothers used 2712 bricks to construct the head of Darth Vader, complete with his instantly recognisable helmet with its triangular breathing apparatus. Building mainly in black is usually a trademark for Batman, but the brothers used curved and straight edge slopes to sculpt a great many details, despite the limited colour scheme.
I think this would be an ideal sculpture to be displayed in the hallway of your home, if you enjoy frightening visitors.
Ahead of this year’s summer blockbuster Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, LEGO has revealed three new sets at the Nuremberg Toy Fair based on the upcoming dinosaur flick. The three sets, one each for LEGO System, Juniors and Duplo, are part of a larger line of thirteen Jurassic World sets and BrickHeadz which will be revealed mid-February at the New York Toy Fair (which TBB will bring you full coverage of). The sets are generally spoiler free and will be available for purchase on April 16th.

LEGO has just released a teaser video revealing that the second set in the LEGO Technic Ultimate Series will be the Bugatti Chiron. The model follows in the tracks of 42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and will be 1:8 scale with 3,599 parts. The Technic Bugatti Chiron will be released on August 1st.
A teaser image was also revealed simply showing four Bugatti Chiron LEGO wheels and a handful of Technic parts – including a Bugatti branded steering wheel.
The video teases a suitably blurred, semi-constructed LEGO set that should get those supercar Technic fans into an anticipatory frenzy.
We’re used to seeing towering skyscrapers and other massive creations in Micropolis layouts. But sometimes, the most eye-catching city block in a layout is the smallest one. Tammo S. demonstrates this truth with his most recent LEGO build, a micro go-kart racing facility. Utilizing the new macaroni tiles for twisty roads, roller skates for karts, and half-sunken grille tiles for a chain-link fence, Tammo has created an adorable place for thrill-seekers of all ages.
The Green Dragon Tavern in Boston inspired Jonas Wide to create his own colonial tavern set in the fictional continent of Celestia. It is a place where the latest scientific ideas are discussed and treks to uncharted territories are planned. A few techniques add a layer of complexity to an otherwise straightforward rectangular building such as the offset windows and the use of the gold bars on the quoins.
The highly anticipated promotional set 40290 60 Years of the LEGO Brick is now available with orders over $125 from the LEGO Shop. The set includes 421 pieces, which means it would likely retail for around $40 separately.
The set includes miniature builds of the iconic yellow castle, a Classic Space ship, the much-beloved monorail, and a pirate ship that can only be 6285 Black Seas Barracuda, plus a printed 60th-anniversary tile.
