Official images of LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 17 revealed [News]

We got our first look at the new Series 17 figures at Toy Fair in February, but that was just the box art. Today, we get to see all the new figures displayed individually—well, all but one. LEGO is keeping one figure under close wraps, showing it as just a silhouette.
We’ll be bringing you an early, hands-on review of this series very soon, along with our usual Feel Guide to help you find the figures you want. Let us know in the comments below what character you’re looking forward to most, and if there’s anything special you’d like to see in our review.

The mystery character may be just a silhouette, but that distinct shape doesn’t leave a lot to the imagination, clearly showing a cape, tricorn hat, and dual flintlock pistols. As is usual, the minifigures are loaded with brand new elements, such as a whisk, old-school mobile phone, rabbit, French bulldog, laser pistol, and rocket and corn cob costumes, just to name a few. Here’s the list of characters:

  • Sausage Man
  • Elf Girl
  • Butterflies Girl
  • Circus Strong Man
  • Veterinarian
  • Battle Dwarf
  • Dance Instructor
  • Gourmet Chef
  • Connoisseur
  • Corn Cob Man
  • Roman Gladiator
  • Rocket Boy
  • Professional Surfer
  • Retro Spaceman
  • Yuppie
  • Secret Character

I’m confused. why does Lego want to keep one figure secret? Is it part of a new marketing plan to get people more interested in buying the figures? To find out what the “secret” figure is? If so, I hope Lego realizes there is a thing called “Google.”

Really looking foward to the Corn Man or Rocket Man. I like those full piece outfit minifigs.

@bookfetcher Many Lego sets have a larger male following, including these collectible minifigs, so of course there will be more males. Their goal is to cater to the target audience, not to statistically represent the real-world population as accurately as possible. Just like Barbie dolls cater to females, and as such they release MANY more female dolls than males. I’ve collected all of these minifigs, and many of my favorites are females (very excited about this new pastry chef) – but it just is what it is.

BTW: just because I thought it was an interesting topic, I counted the females throughout the regular numbered series. Looks like they’ve been at 5 for quite a while:

    1: 3
    2: 3
    3: 3
    4: 3
    5: 4
    6: 5
    7: 5
    8: 5
    9: 5
    10: 5
    11: 5
    12: 5
    13: 5
    14: 5
    15: 5
    16: 5
    17: 5

And I’m making some assumptions here too. I only noted that they’re female if they were obviously so. Who knows, that grey alien might be female for example :)
