Mmmm… Delicious! Both of these are very, very nice builds…
I have to cast my vote for MonsterBrick; the blunderbuss is just a much cleaner build than the rifle. Plus that exposed technic beam on the rifle is quite off-putting, and it has no trigger– the blunderbuss’ stability solution is much nicer and it has a beautiful trigger to boot. The sights on the rifle make it quite an even duel, though.

Monsterbrick’s blunderbuss – even before giving a bonus point for using a teepee pole! It seems more elegant (I never thought I’d describe a blunderbuss as ‘elegant’, but there you go) – and I’m loving the use of the princess carriage wheel as part of the intricate lock mechanism. (I also note that Dwalin Forkbeard’s rifle could have benefited from more creative photography).

I’ve got to go with Monsterbrick’s Blunderbuss as well. It has just the right amount of steampunkiness to it. While I like the overall shape of the rifle, sometimes steampunk gets confused with ‘stick as many gears and gizmos on something’, which is what detracts from the rifle.

I’m going with Dwalin’s rifle. I love the stock on it, Monsterbrick’s seems a little blocky.

Going with the red corner. Looks like you pick it up and shoot it, the other one I’d be worry it would break up if I lifted it.

Blunderbuss. Like the use of the Disney Princess ornate wheel part.

“Steampunk rifles edition”? You guys are getting pretty specific with the Fight contestants…. :)

I follow both MOCers on Flickr, and I had a suspicion that this might be a FNF round. Caaalled it. LOL

As for my vote, this is tough, really tough. I really like some aspects of both MOCs. I don’t like the stock on MB’s, but love it on Dwalin’s. I like the barrel more on Monsters, but that scope on Dwalin’s is awesome, but agreed, if these were “real” hypothetical riffles, talk about frail. At this juncture, I’d say its about even, but I’m going to have to give it to MonsterBrick’s blunderbuss for the more inspired usage of parts. But a perfect gun would be a combination of these two.

To Dwalin. I love your work keep up the great MOCs man. I want you to know it was a close one for me. I was really rooting for you when I saw the two were pitted against each other. But upon close inspection, I think it is the lack of a trigger that really did your riffle in. *whispers* I still like your steampunk MOCs more though.
