Train building with Cale Leiphardt

Cale Leiphardt's Locos

Cale Leiphardt presents some photos of his (and possibly other people’s) trains set up in an industrial diorama. Lots of excellent details including the textured ground with footpath and the track furniture (bits and pieces the live next to tracks). And of course his locomotives more than stand up to their surrounds.

what a cool layout. i dig the texture of the gravel alongside the track. LEGO should take a lesson here, that you can make very grown-up train layouts out of LEGO and have them look as good as their O, HO, and N scale counterparts. The Santa Fe Super Chief was a superb start that encouraged that type of building — so if you’re listening, LEGO, gives us more sets like that!

Agreed–what really gets me thinking from your comment jedi, is the idea of N scale lego trains. I can see a real potential for microscale trains! Similar in some respects to the mini train pack: http://creator.lego.com/en-us/Products/Vehicles/4837.aspx

    (though that’s not quite N)

    If only…
