When you can’t decide if your next ride should be a racer or a utility vehicle, why not make it both? And add the ability to flip?! The latest wave of LEGO Technic vehicles includes lots of colors (especially orange) and a solid range of features, from almost none to loads. The LEGO Technic 42140 App-Controlled Transformation Vehicle falls right in the middle of that range, as this wave’s sole RC car. Join us as we hop in the cockpit of this 772-piece set, which is available now and retails for US $139.99 | CAN $179.99 | UK £114.99.

The LEGO Group provided The Brothers Brick with an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.

If you want to make a statement with your car, paint it purple

With his latest LEGO vehicle, Russian fan-builder Mikhail Kulakov makes quite a bold statement. Not only is it iconic Dodge Challenger 2008 SRT, but it is also fully RC. And, oh boy, it’s so purple. Before we peek under the hood, take a moment to appreciate crazy combinations of System and Technic pieces in purple all over the car. Smaller Technic panels surrounded by numerous slopes and tiles create a fantastic design.

Since LEGO models do not run on gas, there is only one Technic motor worth the Challenger — the good old 9V buggy motor. Coupled with a PF-servo motor for steering, this Dodge has a competent chassis, complete with independent suspension. A neat and clean look is a treat for the eyes, for sure.

This RC LEGO Volvo truck is packed with working features

It’s one thing to build an accurate, good-looking LEGO model of a big rig like this 1/20-scale Volvo FH. Getting the shaping down is impressive enough on its own, especially when working with a color like medium azure which has fewer available part types. But builder Sebeus I wasn’t content to stop at making it look pretty; instead he made it a fully-functional RC model with working steering, lights, and a hooklift system for loading and hauling containers. The best working function to me, though, is the rear axle, which can be lowered and raised as needed just like on the real truck.

A vintage racer from automobile history

Back in the 1920s and ’30s, when Ferdinand Porsche and Enzo Ferrari were not heads of exotic sports car companies but mere racecar drivers, Mercedes-Benz pushed the limits of racing using supercharger technology developed from airplane engines. One sports car that utilized this enhancement was the Mercedes-Benz SSKL of 1931, which LEGO Technic and Model Team expert Pawel Kmieć (Sariel) faithfully replicated. This old roadster jumps out from black and white photographs with a clean white livery, custom-chromed parts and the laurel wreath of champions.

Pawel is a master of building accurate vehicles that are also packed with functions. He includes everything an essential large-scale LEGO vehicle needs: suspension and steering. In addition, he often crams the body of these vehicles full of LEGO electric motors, allowing remote control. This display model becomes a real-life racer, pushing a top speed of 5mph. Watch Pawel’s in-depth video of the build process, and the speedy drive outdoors.

Space themes on wheels

Generally, when one thinks about yore’s classic space themes, big spaceship builds come to mind and occasionally a tiny rover. The G Brix gives us something different – a very large LEGO rover which can be flipped over, each side with its own aesthetic, depending on your mood it can be Blacktron or the Space Police.

Space Police/Blacktron Flipover Rover

The space police portion of the build uses vibrant translucent red elements, including the cockpit, and brilliant blue elements such as tiles and wing pieces. Of course, there are some distinguishing printed “police” tiles and slopes.

Now flip the build over and you get a very cool blacktron build complete in the black and yellow color scheme. Signature elements also included here are the yellow trans-clear cockpit and the printed slope with the blacktron logo.

This vehicle is a model and an RC car as well that can be controlled through an app. Overall it is an awesome build for any fan of classic space themes villainous or heroic.

Incredible radio controlled Maggie with Snowball II [Video]

Maggie’s loose again in this quirky creation by Andreas WeißenburgMaggie is posable and completely radio-controlled, cleverly constructed using an SBrick and Power Functions Motors. It features four-wheel steering and tilting trucks, but don’t take our word for it—we’ve got video of Maggie action.

RC Maggie and Snowball II

We’re trying something a little different at the Brothers Brick to introduce some of the amazing videos our builders are coming up with of their LEGO art, so we had Andreas send us some video and we added a bit of commentary. So check out this video of Maggie cruising around, and also let us know what you think of this style.
