While most of us have been busy playing Portal 2, Martin Latta (thire5) isn’t one to leave a great Valve game like Half-Life 2 behind! Martin’s Combine Strider is sure to strike fear into every Resistance fighter, even if they’re armed with rocket launchers.
Ben Caulkins (Benny Brickster) built a life-sized costume of the Master Chief from Halo over the past six months. Those who have followed his Flickr postings have seen the suit develop from the helmet down. Now that this epic project is finished, Ben shares his thoughts on the process and techniques behind the build. Some Continue reading →
Chris McVeigh (powerpig) joins the Portal 2 fun with his take on Wheatley, everyone’s favorite talking ball on a track, wonderfully voiced by Stephen Merchant. (For the record, it’s hard picking a good Wheatley quote that isn’t a spoiler.) UPDATE: Chris has posted an instructions file compatible with LEGO Digital Designer, along with a helpful Continue reading →
Unlike the actual 3DS, this one made by ape the monkey is less likely to cause eye problems in kids.
Following his amazing GLaDOS from Portal 2, Brandon Bannerman (Catsy) miniaturizes a turret to minifig-scale (or near enough), alongside an adorable custom Chell fig, complete with ASHPD. For all of you out there who’d like your own turret to keep you company during the long twilight of civilization, Brandon has kindly posted instructions. Another interesting Continue reading →
Brandon Bannerman (Catsy [CSF]) built the humorously homocidal GLaDOS from Portal 2, who’s probably going to test and kill some minifigs in the name of science.
By now it’s clear that the Terran units from Starcraft 2 are easiest to make out of LEGO. Sven Junga adds the marine to list of the community’s brick-built Terran units including the Battlecruiser, Thor, Viking, Banshee, Medivac, Siege Tank and more. It’s a good thing I can counter marines with my banelings!
Mark (petzoldhaus) from Youtube built a motorized Siege Tank from Starcraft 2. Not only does it run by remote control, it also converts into siege mode for punishing your opponent’s clumped up ground forces and buildings. You can see the internal workings in this video.
The Pirates of the Caribbean LEGO sets released today reminded me that we’re starting to get footage of the upcoming LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean video game. This video highlights some gameplay and cut scenes, as well a brief interview with Associate Producer Matt Ellison. PC Games – E3 2011 – LEGO Pirates of the Continue reading →
My lovely wife pre-ordered Valve’s Portal 2 for me, and I’m looking forward to playing it tomorrow. In the meantime, I’m enjoying the Portal-themed LEGO models emerging from talented builders like Tyler Clites and Ryan (LDM). EDIT: Of course, these are so timely and cool that we blogged them twice. Well, at least you can Continue reading →
Portal 2 is here! And along with that comes the first brick-built versions by Tyler (Legohaulic) of the adorable protagonists from this video game. Here’s ATLAS and P-Body: As a bonus, check out the multi-colored turrets by Ryan (L D M) inspired by this trailer.
We’re used to small to mid-sized mecha from Cole Blaq, but his latest is a rather massive stomper inspired by the old NES game Metal Storm. The minifig in the cockpit gives some sense of the mecha’s scale: Via Young Spacers.
Master Chief is neither the most interesting nor my favorite character from the Halo universe, but he is lucky to have the honor of being sculpted in LEGO by Jack Marquez (Ewok in Disguise). Though a bit foreshortened in this photo, the assault rifle is a nice build in its own right.
After three years of delays, the LEGO Halo video game finally has a confirmed release date of September 14, 2011. The release of this title may promise a launch of LEGO Halo sets in 2012, so get in your warthog Master Chief, it’s time to finish the fight.
