The Brothers Brick

While I’m fairly sure I blogged this model when it came out, I’ve decided to join a campaign by (so far) Eurobricks and Brickset in pushing it on LEGO Cuusoo. So if you’d like one of these in your home, go vote for it.

Fort Legoredo is one of my favorite Lego sets, and I love this detailed version built by Matija Grguric and Franko Komljenovic.

A little while back we blogged Matija Grguric rail construction diorama and I mentioned that the train it featured was actually a German engine. Matija has now remedied this with his excellent Western Train. I’m glad he waited for after the Eurobricks competition to post this.

Matija Grguric has been building American “Old West” dioramas for a while now and they’ve all been excellent. But his latest one is a particularly neat depiction of the construction of a railway line. The workmans’ tents are a beautiful touch. Great stuff.

Brian Williams (BMW_Indy) is definitely not a LEGO purist and likes to do things his own way. With results like this I can see why. The now closed Eurobricks Spaghetti Western contest has seen a steady drip feed of great wild west creations. When Marshal Banana posted his entry I was struck not so much by the great buildings, but by the absolutely excellent period furniture.

We normally focus on only the most recent LEGO creations, but from time to time I run across a builder whose work I hadn’t taken notice of before (despite Josh posting Dark’s bazaar), and that I have to share regardless of when it was posted. Matija Grguric takes us back to the Wild West with this fun carnival scene. But the crown jewel of this diorama isn’t the crowded carnival atmosphere, the bank robbers or the western buildings, though all of those are very nice. I’m always happy to see innovations in MOCs. This creation by Alex Mac puts a twist on the traditional concept of a western duel, literally. I can imagine the bullets spiraling from the guns of the shooter to his opponent. You can see more pictures including the technique on MOCpages.
