Monkey on your back?
Billy McGill just built a giant version of the LEGO monkey for his niece. I’ve always liked this monkey…now why didn’t I ever think of doing this?

Portuguese LEGO fan group 0937 hosted the 2nd TomarLEGO between June 11 and 14 in Tomar.
One of the centerpieces of the event was an enormous, custom-built tank full of water, plied by a fleet of LEGO Pirates.
See lots more photos from this event in Rupi’s Brickshelf gallery.
UPDATE: Biczzz has a full roundup of all the [...]
This harbor scene by Ciamoslaw Ciamek (Piglet) has much charm in its distinct Spanish architecture, which the builder claims to represent buildings of a small trading post in the era of colonization.
This scene by Luke Watkins is packed with an incredible amount of detail. You really need to check out all the pictures. Very nice, indeed.
It has been leaked before, but kin.leg◎ recently discovered a good, official picture of the new Pirates Advent Calender. It shivers me timbers, yarr!
Looks like we will be getting 8 figs, a monkey, and a sawfish. The grey sawfish hasn’t been in production since 1997, although a black one was briefly available in [...]
The Ugokin aliens may have been forced back to the fringes of known space by the Neo-Classic Space fleet, but there are other powers rising in the void.
Andrew Lee (onosendai2600/Wintermute) and Fradel Gonzalez (Slice151) have kicked off what is sure to be the next building craze — Neo-Blacktron.
Here’s Andrew’s Heavy Fighter:
And Fradel’s Eliminator:

Nearly all LEGO movies we feature here on The Brothers Brick are animated with stop-motion. NeXTSTORM has instead programmed a LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT brick for every single element of motion in this LEGO Pirates movie.
Awesome tip, Dylan!
According to Daniel Garcia (Evo), the airship Hermes was the first to be built by the Royal Navy, but was promptly stolen by pirates.
Most steampunk airships look like, well, flying ships, but Daniel’s ship has an unusual shape like an enormous flying catamaran.
Jalkow trots out this cute scene complete with a poor shipwreck victim. I’m lovin’ all the details packed into this small space. Great scene!
6 months and 160 meters of rope later, Bonaparte built the HMS Prince of Wales, and what an impressive model indeed!
Mark Larson has instilled mass amounts of fear and trembling in me with his latest creation. The Terror and Suspense is just too much…I need to go lie down now.
(Josh is going to have nightmares about the dreaded “Walrus Wedgie”)
Pirate and Castle fans and collectors alike will delight in knowing that a new line called “Brickmaster” (not to be confused with BrickMaster) will release two new sets in these respective themes. These sets include 140 pieces and an idea book. Click on the pictures below for more information.

Rod Gillies proves that old adage true, with this comical scene.
Of course, those soldiers are planning to give the old captain a real bad case of heartbreak…but, hey, they’re soldiers!
Dano has built a cute little island fortress. Nice clean lines and just the right amount of detail. I’m liking it, Dano!
Apparently, StarWars.com is getting all the exclusive details about the upcoming 2009 LEGO Star Wars sets. I didn’t notice when I blogged 7754 Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, but the site also has articles about 7753 Pirate Tank and 7778 Midi-scale Millenium Falcon.
From the Clone Wars animated TV series, 7753 Pirate Tank could be [...]
Brickshelf user B-idea crafts an artistic diorama depicting the forced perspective sinking of a pirate ship. The foreground features the dynamic action of the sinking ship in minifig scale while the background floats a micro-scale rendition of an imperial flagship.
SlyOwl has created several new species of LEGO birds and showcased them in this little scene:
The waterfowl being observed by the birdwatchers range from tall and gangly to short and adorably squat.
No less awesome is this great LEGO Pirates scene, titled “Tribal Sacrifice”:
The pirates’ boat sunk into the sand and water is a brilliant detail.
SlyOwl combines a pair of dioramas to create one gorgeous scene:
The action doesn’t end at the waterline…
I’m particularly impressed with the tattered sail, the ruined LEGO architecture, and the unique merpeople.
