Where baby chicken walkers come from

Ernesto Carillo has posted his completed diorama of an Imperial factory that produces AT-STs (or “chicken walkers”). The scene is full of technical detail, and the lighting effect added to the photo is excellent.

Tour de Force

Ochre Jelly presents Tour de Force, featuring characters from the Clone Wars. I especially like the light trails on the lightsabers. You can read more on his blog.

Just funny

I’m not advocating a particular political position in the epic (imaginary) Classic Space vs Star Wars battle, this is just funny. Day 197 by Ken (KWG73) is titled “A Good Kicking.”

Ken’s been doing a regular 365 day photo project on flickr in which he displays great photographic skill, but during the last several weeks [...]

The Dark Side is stronger than AAA

Having conquered the Cute, Chris McVeigh (powerpig) is at it again.

It’s Emperor Palpatine jump-starting Darth Vader’s roadster with force lightning. What more is there to say?

My favorite 365-day projects

I admire anybody who can sustain a routine for a whole year, and especially anyone who can do it with creativity. Having LEGO involved helps a bit too. Two people have ongoing projects that I’ve especially enjoyed, in which they commit their LEGO selves or minifigs to a series of adventures.
The first is Sarah [...]

After the Empire falls…

Speaking of color, we’ve come to expect a certain chromatic consistency from Rong Yiren. Though his animal-shaped mecha are certainly gorgeous, it’s always nice to see a builder branch out.

In this scene depicting stormtroopers off to work after the end of the Evil Empire, I particularly like R2-D2 wearing a tie.
See more of Rong’s latest [...]

Following quickly on the latest LEGO Star Wars and Indiana Jones sets, 8038 The Battle of Endor and 7749 Echo Base are also now available from the LEGO Shop online.
The Endor set includes 12 minifigs and a great-looking AT-ST. The rebel commando minifigs have torsos that will work really well for military minifigs.

For only $25, [...]

The force was with LEGOLAND California

LEGO builders and Star Wars fans, including the San Diego LEGO User’s Group (SandLUG) and From Bricks to Bothans (FBTB) converged on LEGOLAND California last weekend (June 13 and 14) and set up several tables across from The Big Shop. This isn’t an effort at self-promotion, but more a desire to share a few of [...]

Blaster Yoda

Somebody (Andrew) stole my thunder and mentioned this in a comment to another post a week ago, but I decided this vignette by Ken Robichaud (buriedbybricks) is still just too cool not to have its own entry.

LEGO Star Wars Chrome/Silver Stormtrooper minifig to be available online and in stores [News]

Many of you may know that during the recent Star Wars Weekend in LEGOLand, CA, the park sold a seemingly exclusive chrome silver Stormtrooper magnet that many fans and collectors including me have went lengths to get the limited 2 per customer. Good news for everyone: it has been confirmed with LEGO that the silver [...]

Custom LEGO Star Wars Slave Leia minifig

I’m generally not impressed with the results of combining clay or Sculpey with LEGO minifigs, but Peter C. (Pete Corp) has achieved amazing results with this custom minifig of Princess Leia as Jabba the Hutt’s slave girl.

Princess Leia’s armband, bikini, and ponytail are all sculpted from clay — amazing detail at this small scale.

Lightning Saber by Tesla

Ken Robichaud posted this, but he says that Nikola Tesla built it. I believe him.

LEGOLAND California to host Star Wars Days – June 13 and 14, 2009 [News]

This coming weekend, June 13 and 14, Legoland California is hosting Star Wars Days. The park, located in Carlsbad, CA just off the I-5 freeway, will be open from 10:00am to 6:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Single-day ticket prices start at $53 for children and $63 for adults, though membership, multi-day and “hopper” packages [...]

Mace Windu gets his ride pimped

Kevin (Legorevolution) combines a whole bunch of rare chrome-gold LEGO elements with an excellent microscale cityscape for this wonderful scene featuring everyone’s favorite purple-lightsaber-wielding Jedi.

A chrome-gold C-3PO head serves as the hood ornament on the speeder piloted by “Lord Bamfness”.

Vintage Photo of Yoda discovered!

This rare vintage photo shows Yoda during his brief stint with the French Foreign Legion. Prior to hiding away on Dagobah, Yoda thought that the deserts of Algeria might be a good place to lose himself.

The hot weather, ill-fitting clothes, and hazing by the other soldiers, made him decide to explore other [...]
