Regaining the Pale: Skyrim in Lego

Luke Hutchinson (aka Derfel Cadarn) has been continuing to build some of the best Castle structures around, but his latest subject matter particularly caught my eye. Based on my favorite game of 2011, Skyrim, Luke’s diorama shows the intrepid Dovahkiin assaulting an encampment of Stormcloak soldiers.

LEGO Minecraft Set Officially Announced

Until now, the LEGO Minecraft project has been undergoing the standard review process that all projects coming out Cuusoo will have. However, LEGO has now officially decided that the Minecraft project has what it takes to be a viable set. You can read the press release here. The set seems to be picking up a Continue reading →

LEGO Friends mini-doll as Tifa from Final Fantasy VII

The customization of LEGO Friends mini-dolls continues. Victor Fernandez (eclipseGrafx) takes up the baton with his version of Tifa from Final Fantasy VII, complete with a massive Buster Sword that Cloud would be proud to wield (a custom accessory from Brick Command).

StarCraft Hyperion in Lego

Anyone who has played StarCraft 2 will instantly recognize Sven Junga‘s model of the Hyperion. Even those who are unfamiliar with the game may recognize the hammerhead shape of the battlecruiser design, which has been done several times in Lego. Check out Sven’s growing Terran army in this photo on Flickr.

Black dragon from Skyrim

Since it’s been so long since I’ve blogged anything I’m cutting myself some picture quality slack and putting this one up here on the blog. I’ve been jealous of those with the time to play this, from all accounts excellent, game.

Leveling up in Gears of War 3 & Skyrim with LEGO Mindstorms NXT robots

Though I prefer to earn my experience, medals, and achievements the old-fashioned way, I never cease to be impressed (and mildly amused) by those who design LEGO robots to accomplish their video game goals. Guy Himber built a robot to get the Onyx Active Reload medal in Gears of War 3 (watch him get the Continue reading →

Minecraft in Lego: Blocks to Bricks

What’s the first thing everyone says when they try Minecraft? “It’s like building with Lego!” And to me, Minecraft really is the perfect Lego-esque game. So, it was natural to combine two of my favorite things, which already seemed destined to be together. Some of you may have seen this at Brickcon 2011 back in Continue reading →

Breaking news from LEGO. It appears that LEGO Universe will be shutting down at the start of the new year. My heart goes out to all those who will be losing their jobs. Here’s the press release: LEGO Universe to close in 2012 Online game will close on January 31, 2012. The LEGO Group’s digital Continue reading →

Time to bring on the Vic Vipers

It’s NoVVember again. This one is from its host Peter Morris and Rich M (Zaximillian). I’m not sure if it’s the lines, the colours or a combination of the two but it’s got such an aggressive macho look. EDIT: Added Rich M’s name. Missed that it was a collaboration.

Life-sized Halo sniper rifle built with LEGO

Nick Jensen finished his most ambitious project yet of building the Sniper Rifle System 99 Anti-Matériel (commonly known as the Halo sniper rifle) for his arsenal of brick-built Halo weapons. I asked the builder to share the process of making the SR99 from inspiration to the finished model. Here is his response. How It Started Continue reading →

Drill Man from Mega Man

I’ve somehow managed to go through my entire life never playing the much loved Mega Man. Drill Man is apparently one of the bosses. I reckon Bruce Lowell’s (Bruceywan) version is pretty boss.

Viva la Robolution!

Jarek has captured the unique personalities from the “Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution” add-on for Borderlands. I love the robot with the yellow mohawk. Via The Living Brick. Iain suggests that these little robots could become the next LEGO building fad. I certainly wouldn’t object.

Bricks of War brings Gears of War 3 to life in epic LEGO animation

When I haven’t been working, sleeping, building, or blogging, most of my waking hours over the past month have been spent playing Gears of War 3. My favorite things often inspire LEGO creations, a tendency I seem to share with LEGO stop-motion animator Kooberz Studios (aka Alex Kobbs), whose “Bricks of War” is going viral Continue reading →

Video game designer Hideo Kojima uses LEGO to build levels

Metal Gear Solid designer Hideo Kojima recently gave a talk at USC in which he revealed that he and his development team have used LEGO to design game levels. Relating a story about taking his son to work one day during a time when his wife felt he was spending too much time at work, Continue reading →

Lego Gears of War Lancer Assault Rifle with firing action and motorized saw blade

This life-sized Gears of War Lancer Assault Rifle by PLUM B already got the looks to fit a COG soldier, but it also features a clip-fed firing mechanism that shoots rubber bands – perfect for taking out the paper Locust horde. If that’s not enough, the saw blade on the front of the gun is Continue reading →
