Marvel has revealed the first pictures of some of the upcoming Lego Avengers sets. The sets and minifigs look good except for Iron Man, who must have been modeled after a bobblehead version :)

Cole Blaq’s LEGO Tank from Ghost in the Shell

Cole Blaq has busted out his custom Friends figure to use in this amazing rendition of the Alakuneda Think Tank from Ghost in the Shell. He’s used grey rather than the more accurate tan to make better use of curved parts but I think it’s a fair compromise to make for something that looks this good.

Spaceship Bistouri

Legodrome‘s 190-stud long Bistouri spaceship comes from the Metabaron comics. Did I mention that it’s 5 feet long? The size of the ship is deceptive due to the large triangular fins that could be easily replicated on a smaller scale. The brick-built skull design from a close-up view should convince you of the true size of the model.

I’m glad that Mike Yoder (builder42) covered and added to maxvf1‘s amazing Valkyrie/Veritech fighter as it gives me an excuse to blog both. maxvf1′s is available on LEGO Cuusoo and was mentioned by Nannan a while back. ~~Unfortunately maxvf1 has restricted use of his pics so we’ll have to provide a link to the Gerwalk and Battloid modes.~~

Jose Fernandez (aka Lego-man-at-arms) has fabricated a fantastic Lego version of that ubiquitously cute cat, Hello Kitty. The semblance is spot-on, and Jose has made great use of the limited palette of pink pieces.

It never ceases to amaze me when a builder is able to so accurately portray people, characters and such. TKH did an excellent job of that with this creation, posted last weekend. I’m not an anime fan but this is good.

LEGO Tank from Ghost in the Shell

Those who’ve been around the LEGO community for a while may know I’ve been planning a LEGO version of the Ghost in the Shell tank (from the movie) for quite some time. In fact I posted my first CAD version 5 years ago after starting it nine months before that.

I won’t say it’s finished now (because I doubt I’ll ever consider it finished) but, after nearly six years from starting it, I think it’s ready to share in the brick. It’s close to fully articulated although the middle legs don’t move left/right (to improve strength). The torso is on a ball joint as is the head for maximal poseability.

I tend to avoid blogging competition entries of things I’m judging to keep my favourites secret until the contest ends (Oct. 1 in this case). Luckily Tim Zarki (spook) claims he’s unable to make a starfighter so has built a non-contest mecha. I <3 Ma.K., I <3 LEGO thus I <3 this.

Rong Yiren is no stranger to great character design but these goons manage to have personality with absolutely no motion and minimal detail. They are reminiscent of 8bit characters of old.
