It looks like Angus MacLane is at it again. This time, he’s built Luigi from the Pixar film Cars. This LEGO rendition is just as funny and cute as the original.

I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise when someone who works at Pixar builds something from their movies. What continues to be impressive is how great Angus’s models end up being.

I would put a tax on all people who stand in water!

A while ago we saw a the mecha from District 9 by Brian Kescenovitz. Now, Adrian Florea (Olog) built what some have considered impossible – the organic-looking alien species known as the prawns. You’ll have to zoom in on this creation to appreciate all the subtle ingenious parts usages on this realistic rendition of Christopher the prawn with his signature red vest.

Lego Reality Shows…for real? [News]

Yup, you read that right…Lego reality shows. According to Variety, LEGO is partnering with Scott Messick to develop several different ideas.

Reality producer Scott Messick has partnered with the Lego Group to develop nonscripted programming related to the toy building-block franchise.

Messick said he’s developing several different types of reality shows related to the brand – including docuseries, competition shows and kid-oriented gamers.

“Lego seemed like such a powerful brand, and I don’t think they were thinking about reality TV,” said Messick, who is exec producer of Cartoon Network’s “Destroy Build Destroy.”

Read the full-length article for more information. I’m withholding judgment until I actually see these. The docu-series, based on the travels of some of the Master Builders, sounds interesting. Not to sure about the game shows and such. What are your thoughts about this?

Howl’s Moving LEGO Castle

Imagine Rigney is the only builder I know to have built Howl’s Moving Castle beyond a microscale version. For a teenage builder, this is quite an achievement as he has captured the haphazard looks of the castle by using angled plates and a mash up of rusty colors. Lord Dane presents the best minifig-scale xenomorph from the Alien series that I recall seeing.

Exo-Force robot arms, minifig hands, and even flippers add a lot of organic detail to the alien.

Like Dan, I picked up a bug at BrickCon, but unlike him I dont’ have the good sense to avoid blogging while sick.

While (or “whilst,” if I want to be contextually appropriate) BrickCon was the big event on this side of the Atlantic last weekend, builders in the UK geared up quite successfully for The Great Western LEGO Show (Oct 3-4) at the STEAM Museum in Swindon, England. They have a lot to brag about, both individually and collectively, but this sculpture of Bert and Ernie by James Shields (LostCarPark) is what caught my feverish and sentimental eye.

As Ralph Savelsberg said in the comments for the picture “Is anybody our age not a fan of these two?”

The return of Galidor, aka the Ben 10 figs [News]

A lot of fans were skeptical when LEGO announced upcoming Ben 10 sets, and they were right. We now have pictures of the upcoming Ben 10 big figs from Amazon.com available for pre-order. If it’s not already obvious by the discussion on Flickr, these new sets look like a rehash of the failed Galidor line. Perhaps these products may appeal to some kids and fans of the cartoon, but at $18 each, sales are going to be very limited.

Doctor Who visits BrickCon 2009

Through a fortunate series of events, Alan McMorran was in Seattle last weekend and dropped by BrickCon for a day. When he wasn’t hanging out with the zombie overlords, he was taking a really cool set of pictures featuring his Doctor Who minifig and LEGO TARDIS.

Here, the good Doctor manages to avoid Josh’s motorized dragon in a cave, part of a massive LEGO Castle display with a 2,000-minifig battle.
