The LUGNuts holiday spirit

LUGNuts founders Lino Martins and Nathan Proudlove recently posted a pair of holiday-themed vehicles sure to stoke your Christmas spirit. With “Santa’s Slay,” Nathan shows us what Santa (and the late Rudolph) would do after Santa retires from the old Christmas game: Meanwhile, a very sexy Ms. Claus joins Santa aboard his 1930s era bike, Continue reading →

Scared of Snakes?

This car, by Firas Abu-Jaber, is out to get you. I meant to blog this right after it was posted, but I forgot. I’m not perfect, okay? Anyway, it deserves to be showcased, as its freakin’ sweet! I’m loving that giant snake too.

Hot Rod “Jam Jam”

Flickr user Apple Pie presents his hot rod pickup called “Jam Jam,” featuring functional steering and opening doors and tailgate. There are many details to check out on this classy ride, all of which you can see in the gallery on MOCpages.

Afraid of Clowns?

If so, you’ve got coulrophobia. You should also stay away from Lino’s entry in the Fear and Loathing Challenge. He calls it “I Scream”.

Miniland-scale FDNY Seagrave ladder truck by Ralph Savelsberg

For the November LUGnuts Fear and Loathing challenge, Ralph Savelsberg faces his fear of fire, heights, and loud noises with this FDNY (Fire Department, City of New York) ladder truck. The ladder itself extends, and the truck is covered in Ralph’s signature stickers. See more of Ralph’s fire engines in his Fire photoset on Flickr.

A Sliding Scale of Plymouth Rocks

Ed Diment and Ralph Savelsberg have built the Plymouth Rock in multiple scales. From Micro to Mega and everything in between, these cars rock!

Woof.

Psst, everyone, remember why we’re here?  LEGO is awesome.  Check out this cute Boston Terrier by Mike “Count Blockula” Crowley:

Lino gets all passionate

Lino Martins is a great guy. But he’s even better when he’s rendered in Miniland scale. Sporting his trademark goatee, Lino poses with Passion, built for the “Color Me Strange” Challange on LUGNuts.

Ponda Baba

The indomitable Mike Crowley is on a roll. He has blessed us with yet another incredible Star Wars miniland character. This time its Ponda Baba and his trick arm.

He’s done it again…

The extremely awesome and prolific Mike Crowley has built two more Star Wars characters! I give you Muftak and Kabe:

And then there was one…

Andrew Lee was inspired to create this pair of miniland samurai by a T-shirt he saw at Comic-Con earlier this summer: Peter summarizes my reaction to this scene rather nicely: This reminds me of those awesome and cliche’d scenes in anime where they dash at each other with swords, run right by in silhouette and Continue reading →

What has Ochre Jelly done to deserve this?

Why, build miniland-ish figures of the Pet Shop Boys, of course! Click the photo to see two versions (1985 and 1994) of Ochre Jelly‘s figs:

Del Boy and Rodney ride in style. Well, sort of.

Speaking of references to British popular culture that I’m not familiar with, Ronald Vallenduuk (Duq) has posted a great entry for the LUGNuts Sympathy for the underdog challenge inspired by the BBC comedy Only Fools and Horses. Here’s Del Boy and Rodney of Trotters Independent Traders (in their “Heroes and Villains” Christmas special outfits): The Continue reading →

One sweet devilish ride

Lino Martins rolls out his latest ride -a goth ’57 Pontiac Safari “complete with suicide doors.” The miniland figure shown is a depiction of his girlfriend Sue, who “commissioned” Lino to build the car. Want to see more cars? check out the LUGNuts group on Flickr.

Lino shows his age

As part of LUGNuts‘ “Show your age” contest, Lino Martins rolls out yet another jaw-dropping tribute to the open road. Lino’s 1971 Cadillac Eldorado: Sweet ride, Lino!
