PLUG members build LEGO underwater

Fernando Correia of TechnicBRICKs and his fellow PLUG members got together recently and did something that I believe has never been done before: They donned scuba or snorkel gear and built LEGO sets underwater. “Okay,” you say, “I did that once at my grandma’s place in Orlando.”
Fine, but did you build the set underwater […]

Call for presentations at BrickCon 2008

BrickCon 2008 is coming up in less than three months — October 2-5 in my lovely city of Seattle, WA. If you haven’t registered yet, read all about the people, LEGO creations, and events in our past coverage of what I think is the coolest LEGO convention around. (Awesome brick-built BrickCon logo by Adam Hally.)

35,310 LEGO Star Wars clone troopers raise money for autism

LEGO employees in the UK have put together tens of thousands of clone troopers to raise money for the National Autistic Society. As you can see, this puts Moko’s golden army to shame:

More details on Gizmodo. (Thanks for the link, Jesus Diaz and Jeramy Cooke!)

Public hours at BrickWorld 2008 are wrapping up as I type this, and I hope Nannan is taking a well-deserved break from the fantastic coverage he’s been bringing those of us who couldn’t make it to Chicago this year.
To tide everybody over until Nannan’s next post, here are some blog posts and photos I’ve found […]

Nathan Sawaya exhibits brick art in Hawaii

With appearances on Letterman and Colbert, “brick artist” Nathan Sawaya is quite possibly the only LEGO builder with anything close to celebrity status — and deservedly so.
Nathan has recently opened an exhibit at the Pearlridge Shopping Center in Aiea, HI. He debuted several new sculptures, including “Green” below:

Nathan also did some onsite work. Here he […]

Brickworld, a LEGO convention in its second year hosted in Chicago, will be taking place in less than two weeks on June 19-22. It is never too late to register, but it’s better to do so sooner than later. I’ll be attending in part on behalf of The Brothers Brick to update the blog with […]

Picking up the Pieces ApocaLEGO contest on Flickr [w00t!]

The ApocaLEGO group on Flickr is hosting a contest that asks builders to illustrate how civilization rebuilds itself after the LEGO apocalypse.

There are entry categories for small and large LEGO creations, but the key to the contest is that the post-apocalyptic survivors should be “actively building/creating something important to their continued survival.” What a refreshing […]
