High above the airships of the Deutsches Reich aboard Obenwolken

Linking to Jamie “Morgan19″ Spencer’s Brickshelf gallery in my last post, I realized that I’d never blogged his fighter/reconnaissance craft, the Obenwolken:

Obenwolken has a “state of the art onboard photographic recording system” to survey the steampunk battlefields of 1862, and is armed with a pair of repeating cannons. The always-excellent schematics reveal even more details [...]

First look at future BrickArms prototypes [News]

Will Chapman of BrickArms was at BrickWorld 2008 the weekend before last, and Nannan scored a selection of custom items and prototypes for future BrickArms products. Since this isn’t a review (like my recent BrickForge review), I’ll mainly just show you pictures.
My favorite BrickArms prototype is the unique Lewis gun from World War I:

In addition [...]

Photo review of new BrickForge accessories for 2008 [Review]

Those of you who were paying close attention to our coverage of BrickWorld 2008 probably noticed references to and pictures of the latest BrickForge accessories.
Thanks to Nannan and the magic of the United States Postal Service, here’s my review of the new items BrickForge will be releasing soon. In general, I’ll try to avoid repeating [...]

The End is near.

LUGPol member Kris Kelvin has built a rather cool, custom version of Archaon, Lord of the End Times. For you pathetic non-gamers, that’s a character from Warhammer Fantasy Battle (I had to go look it up myself).

King Solomon takes a bit of a wrong turn toward the end

The latest installment of The Right Hon. Rev. Brendan Powell Smith’s The Brick Testament wrap up the story of King Solomon.
In this scene, Solomon’s son Rehoboam threatens the Israelites with forced labor and scorpions:

Halo fans drool over possible BrickForge Space Marine armor [News]

Kyle “Armothe” Peterson of BrickForge has posted a very cool custom “Space Marine” that looks remarkably like a certain Master Chief:

Does this represent a potential future product from BrickForge? Intriguing…
In related news, Mark Sandlin (Flickr) has posted prototypes of another upcoming BrickForge product — the Megagun:

See more views of the Megagun in Chris’s photostream on [...]

Light-up Iron Man minifig by Brickmodder

This isn’t a Photoshop job:

That’s right, Brickmodder has added 7 LEDs to a custom Iron Man minifig. (Custom decals by Jared “Kaminoan” Burks and Chris “Uubergeek” C.)
Here’s Mr. Stark in action (with weapons by BrickArms):

Two scenes by Sir Nadroj

We feature two unique dioramas by the ever so prolific Jordan Schwartz, depicting a Victorian-esque sci-fi laboratory, which serves as the backdrop in the first part of Jordan’s fiction story called Journey to the Center of the Earth. The working lights on this creation are purchased from Lifelites.

Next is a creation called Bar of the [...]

The rainbow hues of Neo-Classic Space

I always wanted a green Classic Space minifig. Peter Reid seems to have felt the same, so he’s made a number of custom minifigs in alternative colors:

Of course, Pete’s been busy building his usual, fantastic New-Classic Space vehicles as well:

Dragonball Z Kame House and minifigs

Minific customization master Nick (NickGreat) recently built the Kame House from Dragonball Z in a pseudo LEGO set style. Unfortunately this is the only picture I can find:

But meanwhile, check out Nick’s selection of the highest quality custom Dragonball Z character minifigs:

They rise from the mud

Justin Vaughn (Mainman) put good use to some brown Brickarms weapons by putting together a muddy vignette of two soldiers wading their way through the thick mush.

NRE 3GS-21B and EMD F59PH locomotives by Peter Norman

Okay, I know trains are Tim’s domain, but I just like the fact that Peter “swoofty” Norman” (Brickshelf) went out and took pictures of his LEGO locomotives in front of the real things.
NRE 3GS-21B in Union Pacific livery:

EMD F59PH in Metrolink livery:

Olio Fiat 131 by Steven Marshall

Like his Rally Fiat we highlighted earlier this month, Steven Marshall’s Olio Fiat 131 features custom stickers and amazing details:

See how it contrasts with the earlier Fiat:

See more pictures in Steven’s Olio Fiat 131 photoset on Flickr.

I love the smell of LEGO in the morning…

Smells like…creativity!

Joriel Jimenez’s Commonwealth Peacekeeping Forces

Joriel “Joz” Jimenez (MOCPages) has been hard at work updating his Flickr photostream lately. I keep bookmarking stuff to blog, and then he posts something even cooler.

With squad after squad of great minifigs, Joz is clearly a man after my own heart. Unlike too many “army builders,” he peppers his multitudes with unique units like [...]

New 2008 BrickArms weapons [Review]

At BrickCon in October, I learned about the Halo-inspired weapons and the M1 Garand rifle that Will Chapman of BrickArms was working on at the time (see First look at new BrickArms weapons).
Last week, I received my shipment of new 2008 BrickArms weapons, and I’ve been eagerly building and waiting for a break in [...]
