Creepy minifigs invade Halloween… again

Jamie Spencer (Morgan19) once again posted some very creative and creepy minifigs throughout the past several weeks. Most of them use custom non-LEGO accessories but some are made from all LEGO parts. Here are a few of my favorites:

From a glance at the picture, you couldn’t tell these are made from LEGO. Indeed, Alex Schranz (Orion Pax) shows us that LEGO (along with spray-paint) makes for some eye-catching bling-bling.

I continue to be a sucker for just about any creation that alludes to Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels. My favorite character finally came to life when Sylvain (captainsmog) created and placed the Librarian in his natural habitat, the library of Unseen University. He’s an orangutan, not a monkey. Do not call him a monkey!

Aside from my easy seduction by Discworld and apes behaving as humans, this diorama features some neat posing, building techniques, and fantastic attention to detail, such as books chained to shelves, metal rods to conduct magic from the books, and of course bananas. I wonder if he even has a Watch badge in his desk.

He also has a great scene of an Agatean farmer that inspires me for an upcoming project of my own, and his diorama of an Omnian inquisition chamber is horrifyingly fantastic. And Hex, and an iconograph demon, and 72-hour Ahmed, and Hodgesaargh, and . . . never mind. Don’t take my word for it. Check them out yourself.

Zombie Apocafest 2009 BrickArms Defense Pack debuts in 72 hours [News]

Why yes, that is a BrickArms Cricket Bat and M1 Carbine.

Thanks to the generous folks at BrickArms, we’ll be giving away a bunch of these to those of you who contribute to Zombie Apocafest 2009 at BrickCon 2009 later this week. Each Zombie Defense Pack will include a prototype cricket bat and M1 carbine, along with other great stuff that remains Top Secret.

BrickForge releases “UN” helmets, mushrooms, lots of new colors [News]

One of the themes we’ll be incorporating into the final Zombie Apocafest is “Victory!” If last year’s display represented the outbreak and chaos that would follow a zombie pandemic, we’ll arrange this year’s display to include the human counterattack, victory, and even reconstruction.

To that end, we’ve worked with BrickForge on a way to unify the organized human resistance. And what’s more iconic of multi-national military forces than the blue headgear of the United Nations?

BrickForge’s Military Helmet and Beret are now available in Medium Blue. The Brothers Brick will be handing out a bunch to those of you who bring military minifigs, but you can of course order more from BrickForge.com.

Through Tuesday, September 22 at 11 PM Eastern, if your order includes any medium blue headgear, BrickForge will automatically upgrade your shipping to USPS Priority (applies to domestic US orders only). This ensures that you get your helmets and berets in time for BrickCon 2009.

District 9 Mecha Suit

Brian Kescenovitz (mondayn00dle) knows his way around building mechas, so naturally comes this accurate rendition of the mecha suit from District 9. In addition to expertly crafting a detailed frame, Brian uses custom stickers to add a new level of realism to the creation. Lastly, the irregularly shaped baseplate with littered junk completes a scene. Will there be room for a can of cat food? Don’t forget to say hi to Wikus at the controls.
