It’s what’s inside that counts…

I, for one, wouldn’t want to cross a mage, and certainly wouldn’t want to make fun of his house. Thomas Wunz has posted this lovely little medieval hut for his mage, and while it looks plain for someone of power, it’s a decidedly excellent build. I’m particularly fond of the non-traditional, odd-shaped base. The building Continue reading →

LEGO Lava Dragon lights my fire

This is one that I’ve been meaning to post on here for a bit now. Finally got a fire lit under me, so here it is. Sean and Steph Mayo are quickly coming to forefront in the adult lego community and this one is just another feather in their collective cap. I could make a Continue reading →

Even DragonSlayers have to start somewhere

This Dragon Slayer training vignette, by Steve, is hysterical. It was definitely an unexpected use of the Lizard Man collectible fig. If I lived in medieval times, it would be just my luck to be the peasant in the dragon costume.

Angel of the Dawn

This medieval keep has a rugged functional beauty to it and I like it. It has just the right amount of detail on the walls, which keeps it from suffering from “Big Grey Wall Syndrome”, but LegoLord didn’t go overboard with the fancy bits either. Everything in moderation, dear readers, and you end up with Continue reading →

Enter the Scorpion!

Sean and Steph Mayo have issued giant scorpions to their minifigs. After all, why not? Everyone rides horses. If you want to make an entrance, nothing says “Look at me!” like a giant scorpion.

Akai Shiro

AC Pin has developed quite the reputation over the years. Mostly known for highly detailed Star Wars dioramas, he takes a step on the wild side this time around. This particular scene depicts a gorgeous red Japanese castle and the surrounding grounds. It is built with exceptional attention to detail. But I was very impressed Continue reading →

A Day in the Bazaar

Dark-Alamez has created a nifty market scene. I especially like the fountain and the mottled walls. One does have to wonder what that smirking guard on the wall is up to though.

Battle of Grunwald

I am a big fan of minifig combat but it is seldom done correctly. So few people know how to properly pose a minifig. However, this scene, by Jamerco, is just about perfect. I love the chaotic feel of the battle and the sense that this is a moment frozen in time.

The Sack of Troy

Jared Chan has built an incredible scene here. The Trojan Horse, the buildings and the action of the figs are all good, but together they add up to something greater than the sum of the parts. Very nicely done.

Micro Falls Fortress is LEGO-licious

This micro-scale fortress is gorgeous and full of some nice techniques. The chainlinks at the top of the towers are a great touch, as is the green hairpiece standing in as a tree on the little island. Hats off to Sean & Steph Mayo! They are definitely builders to be reckoned with.

Showdown in Felice

I have no idea how I missed this. This sort of build is right up my alley, if you will. According to Michal Herbolt, the keeper of the lost chronicle secret (Archibald) was kidnapped and tortured for information. The build is just beautiful. The different colored plates really add to the cobbled stone look, and Continue reading →

The Market District

Minifigures need a place to get their goods, and Alex‘s Market District is really filling that niche. This creation is just packed with stories and detail! Check out this overall-shot; the produce, the animals, and the buildings just seem to flow naturally. I particularly like the building in the back corner, and the detail on Continue reading →

Ent Misbehavin’

Hideous puns aside these Ents by Shannon Sproule (Shannon Ocean) are brilliant. Apparently you’d know this if you were at Brickworld 2011.

Barad-dûr, the dark tower

Kevin Walter‘s 5′ 9″ tall creation of Sauron’s fortress from Lord of the Rings caught many people’s attention at Brickworld last weekend. The builder estimates about 50,000 pieces that went into the build, and those who attended the convention may remember Kevin assembling just about all those parts on site following the shipping fiasco. Luckily Continue reading →

Lovneur Castle

Lolino packs some serious detail into his latest creation, Lovneur Castle. Forest and all sits on an 8×8 base, and just holds so much charm. Big difference from his most recent creation!
