Nuala, magess of Earth

I honestly can’t tell one humanoid Bionicle creation from another (sorry), but the life-like foliage in this vignette of “Nuala, magess of Earth” by Brickshelfer MuffinToa is pretty darn cool. The integration of SYSTEM pieces with Bionicle is what sets this apart — particularly in the green canopy of the tree. Thanks for the tip, Continue reading →

The Bionicles of Narnia by E.H. Arpy

A man of many names, Bioniblogger Ean H. (aka Arpy , aka Patuara) recreates an iconic scene from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by using Bionicle pieces. Although Lucy does look a little blue (hey, it’s cold in that wardrobe!), I think this works rather well — especially Mr. Tumnus.

Toy Fair 2008 reveals late 2008 LEGO sets [News]

Toy Fair 2008 is approaching and there have been pictures of the late 2008 sets circulating on the web. I found Joe Meno with some of the first pictures of themes including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Speed Racer, Bionicle, and Batman. Update (AB): Ace Kim also has extensive pictures from Toy Fair 2008, nicely organized Continue reading →

It’s gone to his head

Ean (aka Arpy) is skilled at making innovative small models with both bricks and bionicle parts. Check out Craniopod NOD, a robot with an unusual head whose head casing I still can’t figure out after perusing through the images.

Two more podcasts from LAML radio

Lend your ears to two more recent podcasts from LAML radio, highlighting subjects including Bionicle and the BZP community, Perhaps Plastic Explosives- a community for the lego military theme, and a tip on how to stay on top of recent lego creations and news from the community via RSS feed.

Halo grunt by Mike Nieves

Mike Nieves built one of the most realistic grunt from the video game Halo. Better yet, he has made instructions so fans can create their own too!

The King’s Cloud by Mark Stafford

The CCCV entries just keep pouring in. Mark Stafford‘s entry is a fantastical flying ship in golds and blues. There are so many Bionicle parts in this creation that I think it deserves to be in the “Bionicle” category. ;-)

Bionicle Droideka by hyf326

The minifig-scale Droideka (or Destroyer Droid) in official LEGO sets kind of balls up, but not really. hyf326 has built a fully functional Droideka from Bionicle. Okay, it doesn’t actually roll around and go “pew pew!” Still cool though. Via Brick Blogue.

Alien Queen by Jeff Ranjo

The latest LEGO creation inspired by Aliens is one built mostly from Bionicle by Jeff Ranjo. (Via Klocki.)

Bionicle rose by MuffinToa

If you think Bionicle creations are all about Toa and Rahi and other things the average SYSTEM builder would never care about, you’re not a reader of Arpy’s BioniBlog, where I ran across this excellent rose by MuffinToa — an entry in the latest Bionicle Building Contest BZPower.

Flame II by MischiefMecha

Brickshelfer MischiefMecha presents a mecha that demonstrates a nice integration between Bionicle and SYSTEM pieces.

Tohu by Kopakashau

Kopakashau presents a creation called “Tohu”. I’ll let mastergongfu do the talking on this one: “Not much Bionicle gets blogged, nor does it genrally deserve to get blogged, but this one I found on Brickshelf is superb.” Hmmm… An interesting point. If you want to see more Bionicle here on The Brothers Brick, help me Continue reading →

HS01 Mojem by Tim Zarki

Nice hard suit, Tim Zarki!

Bionicle Links for May 19, 2007

“Fanglyfuss” by Makaru, and “The Pit Scourge” by Breann Sledge (both via BioniBlog): Guu Press has an interesting interview with Lars Lusenberg Nielsen, Senior Toy Designer at LEGO’s Concept Lab (via Klocki and Forum 0937).

Arpy’s Rediculously Pacifistic Sea Turtle apparently needs your vote

So, Josh and I have both been sick and/or busy, and even though we have a completed interview with Bionicle builder Breann Sledge, we haven’t had time to post it yet. I promise that we’ll post it very soon — sorry Breann. To tide everyone over, here’s a little something for the current Bionicle Building Continue reading →
