Under the Sea

Juho William Tauriainen takes us on an underwater adventure with this scene built largely from Bionicle pieces. He has managed to achieve a very organic, eye-catching look here.

Bionicle Portal Turret wonders if you’re still there

It appears we’ve found another Valve fan in Arkov, whose Turret from Portal captures the whimsically terrifying nature of these nasty little robots.

If you were looking at an Aperture Science Military Android from this angle, there would be blood on the wall behind you. Just sayin’.

Lady Kopaka Creates

Juho William Tauriainen has created a creative creation. The pose is actually rather striking.

This little robot has an attitude

As if you can’t already tell by the impish look he’s giving you. What I like the most about this creation by Ian Barreto is the way the head is sculpted into a perfect sphere from the various Bionicle parts, making a very fitting combo.

Hero Factory replaces Bionicle in August 2010 [News]

News from Wizard World Magazine reveal pictures of successors of Bionicle: Hero Factory. The plot of the new line describes certain Heroes who fight evil across space and time, which pretty much sets the stage for an infinite possibility of expansions. At a decent price of $7.99, you can purchase your Hero when they arrive [...]

Avatar Thanator beast built from Bionicle

I suspect I’m the last person on the planet who hasn’t seen Avatar yet (though I’ve never watched James Cameron’s Titanic either). Harvey Cu seems to have caught a showing of the latest epic, resulting in a rather nice Thanator beast:

Flaming awesome!

Bright. Colorful. Creative. Life-like. Suntastic. Not quite a loss for words, too many adjectives to describe this cool sculpture, Helios, by David Pickett (fallentomato).

Via The Living Brick. Good catch, OJ!

Bionicle discontinued after 2010 [News]

LEGO has just announced that 2010 will be the last year for new Bionicle sets; starting summer 2010 a new line of similar buildable figures will be released. This will mark the end of nine years since the arrival of the first Toa in 2001. Below is the official announcement from LEGO:
[...]

Tri-Runner spy drone

If I were a secret agent, I’d want one of these Tri-Runners by The Zipper. The gears give an appearance of functionality and the color combo makes this robot remarkable.

Pictures of 2010 LEGO sets – Atlantis, Toy Story, & more – at Festival RFFL [News]

UPDATE: High-res photos of LEGO Atlantis sets are now out.
——–
Alexander (Shurik) posted pictures of some of the 2010 sets that LEGO has displayed at a sponsored event in Russia called Festival Rossiyskogo Fan Forum Lego. The featured sets include samples from the following themes: Atlantis, Toy Story, Prince of Persia, Star Wars, Power Miners, City, [...]

Once upon a creepy time…

Juho William serves up this surreal creation. Everything seems to come together perfectly to create a creepy sense of wonder. I’m fascinated and can’t stop looking at it.

Monster’s eyeball

This giant cyborg eyeball by Matt Armstrong (monsterbrick) is just a little bit creepy.

It’s Halloween every day at Matt’s house, so I’m looking forward to him really gearing up for this coming holiday with more great creations like this one. In his case, I’ll forgive the starting holiday decoration and building two months in [...]

Sartorius will tailor your clothes and then run away with your womenfolk

Cameron (Primus) draws inspiration from Greek and Roman mythology for his latest Bionicle creation.

V&A Steamworks’ clockwork fish chug through the clouds

Guy Himber (V&A Steamworks) recently kicked off a series of LEGO creations that each incorporate a Knights Kingdom II shield.

Guy started with a clockwork lionfish (above) and followed it with an eagle ray (below).

As always, Guy combines SYSTEM, Duplo, and Bionicle elements in new and interesting ways.

Monster by Monster

Matt Armstrong isn’t called MonsterBrick for nothing. Especially since he recently gave birth to this incredibly awesome death machine.

He also took new pics just for us, so we were forced to blog it. Otherwise he might have let this thing loose on us….

Nuhvok-Kal

I think we’re past being amazed that Bionicle builders do some cool stuff, but as a SYSTEM builder, I just don’t have the vocabulary to discuss Bionicle intelligently. Maybe learning the lingo is Step 2 in my 12-step acceptance of Bionicle…
Regardless of my inability to say anything relevant about it, I think this tank thingy [...]

Ean’s titanic Titanus looms over lesser Bionicle creations

BioniBlogger Ean H. (Arpy) is a talented Bionicle builder himself.

The large wheels from LEGO Power Miners vehicles on Titanus’ forearms give a sense of how huge this mecha is. See more on Brickshelf.

And, yeah, this creeped me out

This creature by Harry44 was not something I needed to see in the early hours of the morning. Is this supposed to by Ronald McDonald? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, its kind of scary…

I’m afraid to go out to my car…I’ll have to wait until the sun comes up now.

XR79 Biomechanoid

We don’t blog enough Bionicle creations, but that doesn’t mean that good ones aren’t out there. Check out this robotic horror by JP-54 for the BBC #53 contest. The creation exploits the diversity and biomechanical form of Bionicle pieces to create the perfect texture for a terror-inspiring monster.

Nightmarish spacecrafts of the Hellionic Conclave

Justin Vaughn (Mainman) has been using Bionicle parts from 8978 Skrall to create this novelty space faction called the Hellionic Conclave. The primary features of these diabolical creations highlight the interesting shapes of Bionicle elements mixed with the standard System bricks.

Bigg’s Pohatu dives underwater

Patrick Biggs (Kopakashau) combined Bionicle elements with System parts to make this striking Toa variation of Pohatu. I just love the flexibility on this and most Bionicle based creations. Of course, the cool weapon choice makes the creation complete.

The Zipper’s Zu-Rama Elite gives me the heebie jeebies

BZPower member The Zipper recently posted this “hornet-like creature” that you probably wouldn’t meet in your great aunt’s garden — not that you’d want to!

The Zipper’s design also gives her creature a look akin to a Zerg Mutalisk — another nasty beast whose acquaintance you’d best avoid.
Thanks for the link, Joey!

Nabii’s ornithopter flits and flies

Mark Stafford (Nabii) is a master at incorporating LEGO SYSTEM and Bionicle elements into his creations. While the wings on his Flitterfly ornithopter are Bionicle, the cockpit and fuselage are almost entirely SYSTEM.
I’m particularly keen on the radial engine and the Viking tiles on the tail.
See more on MOCpages or Brickshelf.

Your entire life has been a mathematical error

I promise, we are not in fact contractually obligated to blog all Portal or Valve-inspired LEGO creations. But this Spontaneous Portal Generator Prototype II (aka Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device) by Neaku (also on Flickr) definitely caught my eye:

Via BioniBlog, where Ean has a nice overview of the latest Bionicle Building Contest over at BZPower.

Don’t pick the flowers

This is the second time this weekend that we’ve shown flowers leading to deadly consesequences. Look at what Megan Rothrock has created – an overly abundant pink diorama with an insect decapitating a poor space explorer who picked the wrong flower. Lesson learned, don’t pick flowers.
