UM-5D Spec-Ops War Doll combat hardsuit by Brian Kescenovitz

Not content to let his amazing silver UM-5 War Doll shine alone, Brian Kescenovitz has built an all-black version that you wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley at night:

Deeper into Planet Nidoria with Chrispockster

The intrepid retro-space astronauts of Chrispockster’s exploratory crew continue to encounter fascinating residents of the Planet Nidoria. Nidorians are of course famous for their bright green thoroughbred mounts (that’s a Bionicle creature put to excellent use):

The crew itself has recently received an upgrade, accompanied by Robbie the Robot:

Cagerrin’s Bionicle frog has an adorable mechanical leg

Cagerrin’s poor Bionicle frog must have lost a leg, but Cagerrin is a kind soul, so now the frog has a mechanical leg:

Since the leg is apparently steam-powered, this is our first post to contain the word “frogpunk” (though not the first reference to the concept). See Cagerrin’s Brickshelf gallery for delicious froggy goodness.

Fear the Dark Lord

Brickshelf user edulyoung built a commanding figure of Darth Vader. Using Technic, Bionicle, and System parts, edulyoung mashes these eclectic piece together with interesting results. While Vader’s proportion’s aren’t 100% accurate, he certainly boosts an imposing form.

A horse by any other name…

…wouldn’t be as cool as this one.

Many thanks to Bruce of VignetteBricks for pointing this out on Classic Castle

Neaku’s demon Draco has tentacle wings and pointy ears

I generally let Nannan blog stuff with tentacles, but I couldn’t pass up Neaku’s “Draco”:

The Weighted Companion Cube will accompany you throughout the test.

Since I’m running an older Mac here at home (too old to dual-boot or run VPC), my knowledge of Portal is limited — and reinterpreted — by the many LEGO creations the game has inspired.
Nevertheless, I recognize a good Weighted Companion Cube when I see one. Le’pena uses mainly Technic and Bionicle pieces to […]

Striking a pose

The rather large Bionicle community and creations are not so well represented here on our blog, but once in a while a Bionicle figure catches my eye. This one is called Shinonome, created by Brickshelf user “fuh-min“. What’s especially outstanding regarding this creation is the strikingly awesome posability of the figure, which includes this b-boy […]

Nuala, magess of Earth

I honestly can’t tell one humanoid Bionicle creation from another (sorry), but the life-like foliage in this vignette of “Nuala, magess of Earth” by Brickshelfer MuffinToa is pretty darn cool. The integration of SYSTEM pieces with Bionicle is what sets this apart — particularly in the green canopy of the tree.
Thanks for the tip, reader […]

The Bionicles of Narnia by E.H. Arpy

A man of many names, Bioniblogger Ean H. (aka Arpy , aka Patuara) recreates an iconic scene from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by using Bionicle pieces.
Although Lucy does look a little blue (hey, it’s cold in that wardrobe!), I think this works rather well — especially Mr. Tumnus.

Toy Fair 2008 reveals late 2008 LEGO sets [News]

Toy Fair 2008 is approaching and there have been pictures of the late 2008 sets circulating on the web. I found Joe Meno with some of the first pictures of themes including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Speed Racer, Bionicle, and Batman.

Update (AB): Ace Kim also has extensive pictures from Toy Fair 2008, nicely organized into […]

It’s gone to his head

Ean (aka Arpy) is skilled at making innovative small models with both bricks and bionicle parts. Check out Craniopod NOD, a robot with an unusual head whose head casing I still can’t figure out after perusing through the images.

Halo grunt by Mike Nieves

Mike Nieves built the most realistic grunt from the video game Halo. Better yet, he has made instructions so fans can create their own too!

The King’s Cloud by Mark Stafford

The CCCV entries just keep pouring in. Mark Stafford’s entry is a fantastical flying ship in golds and blues. There are so many Bionicle parts in this creation that I think it deserves to be in the “Bionicle” category.

Bionicle Droideka by hyf326

The minifig-scale Droideka (or Destroyer Droid) in official LEGO sets kind of balls up, but not really. hyf326 has built a fully functional Droideka from Bionicle. Okay, it doesn’t actually roll around and go “pew pew!” Still cool though.

Alien Queen by Jeff Ranjo

The latest LEGO creation inspired by Aliens is one built mostly from Bionicle by Jeff Ranjo. (Via Klocki.)

Bionicle rose by MuffinToa

If you think Bionicle creations are all about Toa and Rahi and other things the average SYSTEM builder would never care about, you’re not a reader of Arpy’s BioniBlog, where I ran across this excellent rose by MuffinToa — an entry in the latest Bionicle Building Contest BZPower.
