Red fighter from Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise
Apparently, an anime movie called Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise came out in 1987. Never heard of it, but this fighter by Mike Psiaki sure is awesome.

Imagine Rigney is the only builder I know to have built Howl’s Moving Castle beyond a microscale version. For a teenage builder, this is quite an achievement as he has captured the haphazard looks of the castle by using angled plates and a mash up of rusty colors. See more including interior and construction shots Continue reading →
Louise Dade (Bladewood) and Reasonably Clever are teaming up for a very cool contest — build a pimped-out version of Louise’s wheelchair! The contest runs from today through November 15th. Click the graphic to check out the rules and prizes.
Angus Maclane has been building like crazy lately. The craziness has manifested itself as CubeDudes, which appear to be famous characters with cubes for heads. They are adorable! He just posted oodles of these awesome little dudes. Click on the pictures to go to a gallery of related figures. Which is your favorite?

I really do love the new Space Police III theme, from the wonderful alien minifigs to the subtle in-jokes that the designers incorporated throughout their sets. Nevertheless, a running joke among LEGO fans is that the line is xenophobic and defames sentient non-human life forms. Seeing District 9 last night (based on Alive in Joberg Continue reading →
Johnny Tang built the Scopedog mecha from VOTOMS in all its armored magnificence. The creation stands about 1.5 feet tall and features a furnished cockpit revealed in the video below. Editor’s note: This creation incorporates large amounts of non-LEGO elements from a brand called BTR or “Built to Rule,” from Hasbro. Despite featuring “mixed media” Continue reading →
Jon Hall (jonhall18) has built a great Savoia S.21 seaplane, but the centerpiece of this LEGO creation for me is the custom minifig of Porco Rosso himself. Thanks for the link, Horace!
A few weeks ago I spent a few great hours with friends just poring over old catalogs from the early 1980s through late 1990s. I especially treasured the 1985 catalog (right, US edition) and kept a copy that my friend could spare. That was probably the first year that I was old enough to start Continue reading →
Dirk displays his prowess with sculpture yet again. His Luigi is adorable!
I hadn’t encountered LEGO mecha builder Phong Chang until recently, but it looks like he’s been building some pretty cool mecha for some time. His latest is apparently an update to an earlier version, titled “Tengen Taishi” — inspired by the recent anime series Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann. More photos on Flickr and MOCPages.
According to Animation Magazine, Lego has brokered a deal with The Cartoon Network. According to a press release from LEGO, Ben 10: Alien Force LEGO sets are coming in 2010. Now I admit that I’m out of the loop on this. I’m not an afficiando of the Cartoon Network. Is this a good thing or Continue reading →
Chris Howard has launched a project to create LEGO comics in the style of The Far Side. He calls them The Brick Side, and the first three comics are already on his blog.
Dirk VH (dm_meister) has created a large-scale sculpture of Strong Bad from Homestar Runner. Dirk even added details like the lacing on the back of Strong Bad’s luchador mask, along with photos of the internal structure that keeps LEGO Strong Bad…strong. See more photos of Strong Bad in Dirk’s photostream on Flickr.
Johnny Tang (johnnytang) is at it again with amazing sculptures. His latest is Hellboy: At this scale, Johnny can pack in lots of important details (like the two studs on Hellboy’s pecs), but it takes some serious skill to get it all to fit together so well. Check out the full LEGO Hellboy gallery on Continue reading →
