Gundam Kyrios

Adrian Florea (Olog) is not only a great builders, but a diverse one as well. Check out this Gundam model of Gundam Kyrios, posing formidably on in an aerial stance. This work along with some others will be featured at a small exhibition of anime based MOCs at a japanese teahouse in Romania.

Dragonball Z Kame House and minifigs

Minific customization master Nick (NickGreat) recently built the Kame House from Dragonball Z in a pseudo LEGO set style. Unfortunately this is the only picture I can find:

But meanwhile, check out Nick’s selection of the highest quality custom Dragonball Z character minifigs:

Laputa: Castle in the Sky flaptters by Horace Cheng

I didn’t think that Horace Cheng could improve on the wonderful flaptters (from Hayao Miyazaki’s Laputa: Castle in the Sky) we featured here a couple of years ago, but Horace proves me wrong with a “version 2″:

Though I kind of miss the grill, the overall shape is much better, and the chain works rather well […]

Iron Gundam

Andrew Lee stomps into the Reasonably Clever Pumping Iron contest at the last second with an Iron Man/Gundam crossover:

See Andrew’s Iron Man photoset for more.

Norbi Demeter roundup for April 27, 2008

Yes, that’s right, Norbi Demeter (one pic borderline NSFW) gets a roundup post the first time he’s featured here.
Norbi is a LEGO builder from Romania who just recently started posting his creations to Flickr. It’s not often someone demonstrates such strong skills from the very first photo posted online, but Norbi clearly has […]

Minifig Spawn

My Spawn minifig was inspired by a conversation I had a while back with Drew Ellis. He suggested Bane from 7787 The Bat-Tank would make an excellent Spawn. I’m inclined to agree:

(All official pieces; no custom parts.)

Swordfish II from Cowboy Bebop by Adrian Florea

It seems that everything Adrian Florea builds makes the rounds on the ‘net, and I’m sure his latest will be no different — a lovely spaceship from Cowboy Bebop called Swordfish II:

My ignorance of post-1989 anime is staggering, so I had to look up a couple reference pics, but Adrian’s rendition of this ship is […]

Kevin Guoh’s Neighbor Totoro

What better way to wrap up today’s green-themed posts with a character inspired by Hayao Miyazaki, whose movies remind us how beautiful and fragile this world is.
Here’s a great little Totoro by Kevin Guoh (Flickr):

The leaf on his head makes this LEGO Totoro adorably perfect.

Arvo’s Doll - worth the tease

The Arvo Brothers‘ latest project is inspired by Ghost In the Shell 2 and the disturbing works of Hans Bellmer. There are only two teaser pictures so far, but they’re worth it. I look forward to the gallery and must say that Arvo’s recent takes on fictional subjects have yielded really, really stunning results.

LEGO invades the Princess Planet

Brian McLachlan is the creator of a weekly webcomic called “Princess Planet,” which he recently switched over to LEGO form for several episodes.
I just love the running gags with the shields, which I won’t ruin for you by quoting. Check ‘em out!
More LEGO webcomic goodness:

Reasonably Clever
Adventures of the S-Team
Grunts

(I know there are several more […]

Moko’s Kamen Rider

Long before the Power Rangers leapt across the Pacific onto American TV screens, Japanese TV was dominated by series after series of superhero shows, not least of which was Kamen (Masked) Rider.
Moko goes retro with his latest creation, an homage to the very first Kamen Rider:

From 1971 through today, Kamen Rider, his motorcycles, and […]

Spider-pig, Spider-pig…

In response to our recent post about ImpreSariO’s movie posters, reader Craig sends word of his own set of LEGO movie posters.
My favorite is The Simpsons Movie, proving once again that simplicity is often the best policy — that’s one round tile and 40% of a minifig torso assembly.
Here’s Reservoir Dogs and an Indiana Jones […]

Reminder: LUGNuts Heroes & Villains challenge ends next week!

The Heroes & Villains building challenge ends on March 15. To get your last-minute creative juices flowing, let’s round up a few of the vehicles we haven’t featured yet.
Here’s a Super-lowrider from Jake (more on Brickshelf):

A Spawn-mobil by bordolego:

Alex Eyler’s own assassin, the Mad Hatter (not to be confused with the Batman character), gets a […]

LEGO+Plastic Man=Duh

Here’s another great entry for the Heroes & Villains challenge — Plastic Man as a steam shovel!

Click the pic to see more of this great creation by Peter “Graznador” Aoun, including action shots and a reference pic that emphasizes just how perfect this thing is.

Gambit’s ‘87 Oldsmobile Cutlass, by Nathan Proudlove

How did I miss this?! I’ll admit to being a bit behind, so MasterGongfu’s link to this great LUGNuts Heroes & Villains entry by Nathan Proudlove was very much appreciated.
The dominating feature on this great car is of course the roof — a brick-built Ace of Spades that begs the question, are decals and stickers […]

Tycho and Gabe take a crack at the future of LEGO Universe

Click on through to Penny Arcade for a “Glimpse into the Future.”
(Thanks for the tip, TBB banner designer Jeremy!)

Savoia S-21 seaplane from Porco Rosso, by Uspez Morbo

Hayao Miyazaki’s Porco Rosso never saw theatrical release here in the United States, and since it was released after I left Japan, I had to wait 13 years to see it (when it was released on DVD in 2005). The movie was worth the wait, and I just love Uspez Morbo’s interpretation of protagonist Porco […]

Announcing the LUGNuts Heroes and Villains building challenge

Lino Martins says, “Everyone knows Batman has all the coolest rides.”

As Nathan Proudlove demonstrates above, that’s certainly true! But if you’ve always thought that Spider-Man got hung out to dry or the Green Lantern got left out in the dark, the Heroes and Villains Challenge in the LUGNuts group on Flickr is your chance […]
