LEGO unveils gigantic new LEGO Star Wars 10236 Ewok Village set

I got the press packet for this last night, with an embargo until 5am today, because the new LEGO Star Wars set 10236 Ewok Village was unveiled at an event in the Czech Republic this morning. Time zones are a pain, but I’d say this set was worth waiting to take a look at!

This set really captures the feel of the Ewok Village from Return of the Jedi, from the massive tress to the raised walkways. It’d also translate well for dioramas of Kashyyyk, and really anything else with trees. There appear to be play-features galore, and a brick-built rope bridge that’s detailed enough to make any adult builder proud. It also appears to have about a million minifigs, if you’re into that…

  1. the enigma that is badger

Awakens more than a few fond memories of the classic Kenner playset!

    I m not into starwars set… I own 2 of these I think… but I’m SO GOING TO BUY THIS ONE !

  3. Red Spacecat

Wait what?… So Luke and Leia are brother and sister? And… Darth Vader is their father?? Damn, I wish they would show these movies in all countries simultaniously. Spoilers man, spoilers.

The price isn’t even close to the same, but this one ranks right up there with the Medieval Market Village in terms of beauty. Very, very cool.

  5. HatRabies

I don’t collect LEGO Star Wars (Heck I don’t even keep ANY sets together) but saying no to this will be a testament to my wavering will willpower. Such a beaut’.

absolutely criminal not to take the direction of the droid arms into account when building that bridge.

  7. Dr_Venkman

Awesome, I cant wait for Lego Australia to list this at 100% mark up on other regions and list it at AUD$500 for the set!

I like star wars sets, they often get a lot of cool pieces and figures, but not really this time. There are ewoks which would be great for an ewok MoC, but I can’t see a lot of people ever building ewoks stuff. I certainly haven’t used any of my ewok figures since I took down their sets. You don’t get all that many interesting parts and don’t get a lot of parts overall for one of Lego’s most expensive sets. It just seems that if Lego wanted to launch a big set there are so very many other sets they could have done first.

“absolutely criminal not to take the direction of the droid arms into account when building that bridge.”

I guess I missed something. Is there somewhere where you see that the arms are backward? They all look OK to me…

I think they are talking about the clips being flipped on some of the arms. The “shoulder” end and the “hand” end aren’t uniform in the picture.

^ Ah, thanks! I guess that just goes to show how unfamiliar I am with the piece. I hadn’t noticed that the ends were any different and was focusing on the “elbows” being bent in the correct direction. I can see what you mean now. :)
