I must say, I've been enjoying your recent Space Binge enormously, Andrew! Which is why for no particular reason I would now just like to mention that this Wednesday marks the 35th anniversary of Voayger I's launch. Just saying'... Don't pack away the light bley just yet ;-)

Great stuff, Andrew. I find myself falling prey to the "documentary" style of photographing my Lego creations more often than I'd like--what I sometimes call "catalog shots". It's amazing how much of a difference a little effort at presentation can make.

I think a good combination of approaches is best. We all like to see full frame, detailed photos of the Lego model, to look at the *Lego* and see how the builder did what they did. But some more interesting shots, especially like the last photo you highlighted, Andrew, can really make the model come alive and give some context to the model.
Check out my "Photographing Lego" group on flickr for more examples.
