I thought it would be a attempt to do even better than the Millenium Falcon or the Imperial Star Destroyer. Lego had lots of time to create a special super star destroyer…but instead of creating a must have set, they created this. The shape is ok, but little details, the stands are way to big and put in different directions. The underside is flat as a plate, was it to hard to make the v shape like in the imperial star destroyer, and what about the engines…some prefab parts …it looks all very cheap. The’ve thrown in some minifigs that you can put in some box inside the ship to justify the price? The price is never to high when you get some value for your money, but to me it’s not worth the price.This is all very sad when you know that a guy named Lasse Deleuran made the perfect version of it and created also the building instruction. Lego could have been inspired by this model…Maybe they were, but they had to produce something children would like to have…I have made my own version of this ship. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/275444 When you do not count the tiles I used you get close to the amount of parts that lego used for their version. So I think they could have done better than this.

Okay. I can see this as a custom build and would be pretty darned impressed with it as well, but a kit? And for the cost of a third of a mortgage payment? You’ve got to be kidding me… I know that those of us who grew up with Legos still buy them for our own fun and all, but aren’t these kits supposed to be attainable for kids too? This is about $200 bucks too much.

@alldarker – No, I was laughing at the sentence that says “Includes 4 minifigures: Darth Vader, Admiral Piett, Dengar, Bossk and IG-88″. They obviously included IG-88 as a minifig. It’s not a big deal. Just an editing issue. But one would think that they would edit press releases more closely.

@Josh: Like Jai mentioned, IG-88 actually got his own bullet point, so all five characters are accounted for in the press release. I guess IG-88 isn’t considered a proper minifigure by Lego (but rather a collection of pieces) in this set, so 4 minifigs IG-88 is technically correct. Not that Lego has ever been very consistent with counting brick-built droids as minifigs; sometimes they are counted (10188 Death Star), and sometimes they aren’t counted.
The mistake I ‘spotted’ was that the designer mentions it’s the first official Lego version of the Super Star Destroyer, which of course it isn’t. The 10143 Death Star II already contained a very official micro-version of the SDD!
All mistakes aside, I guess the ‘good’ thing about including minifigs in this set, is that people can sell on the minifigs to recuperate some of the cost of buying this set!

I go back and forth on Star Wars sets and minifigs. Charitably, I think LEGO includes the minifigs because that’s what the fans tell them they want. Uncharitably, I think they include the figs to try and increase sales. For this set specifically, I wonder if they worried that no one would buy it if it didn’t have minifigs included?

I was hoping that since it’s only 48 pieces more than the other Star Destoryer, that it would be the same price as that one. But, this will be going on the Christmas List anyway.

Well I have to say that I’m underwhelmed. I didn’t get the first Star Destroyer and I doubt that I will be getting this one either. Sure, it looks like the ship from the movie but there isn’t anything impressive about this except its size. The typo in the official press release is funny too. Is says four minifigs, but names five and shows five in the pics. Oh well, no one is perfect. :)

And while I’m on the subject, what is up with the minifigs? They don’t fit the scale at all. I feel like they were thrown in so that the minifig collectors have to buy the set or fork over huge amounts of cash on Bricklink.
