Great article Keith! It's great to see the MOCathalon get the coverage it really deserves. Chris and his band of misfits did a great job in organizing this and managed to pull something really special off here. As many others have stated, this contest really brought the community together and forced many people to finally build 'outside their comfort zone'. I love the aspect of YFOL's, TFOL's, and AFOL's all working together toward a common goal and I think this is a major milestone in the LEGO Community. I love when the 'norm' is turned upside down and dropped on its head. The MOCathalon did just that. Bravo to everyone involved!

As a judge in the MOCathlon I sat through all of the 450 and change entries, a both exhausting and fulfilling job.
Stay tuned, because we are writing down the concept and rules for a new contest (with better defined categories this time lol!) for late this summer.
And, Keith, very nice article!

As a contestant in the games, I admit it was indeed a mind-boggling and sometimes frustrating experience -- and a fun one as well. A great wrap up to the experience and what it means to the building community. Very often contests tend to drag on far too long, but the challenge of trying to conceive and build the wide range of models this one required in 30 days was perfect for someone seeking instant gratification like me. Indeed, The Mouse and the Moon was the best entry overall.
