The 2001 comment was regarding my attendance of large-scale public fests. Brickfest 2001 was my first large AFOL gathering, aborted LUG BLOC meetings notwithstanding.

As for the Robins, Kev: Bram went all Nightwing on me and left for California, and you were murdered by The Joker (or architecture, take your pick), so I fly solo now.

BrickFrenzy has stuff from 1999. I know we were meeting up to spend way too long on a BrikWars game in at least 2000. Probably, 1999.

Great interview. The anecdote about JJ Abrams is great; I had to relay that to my other half. And somehow, I had managed to entirely miss Blackout, so having it highlighted was a joyous thing.

The collaboration bit was a triple-dose of awesome. Considering that Keith, Adrian and Nathan were three of the builders who most influenced my emergence from my dark age, I’d do backflips to collaborate with any of them–were it not for my notorious inability to finish big projects on any kind of reasonable timeline.

Oh, and Keith’s mom is the action.

Great interview, it’s nice to read how other AFOLs build and get inspired. And Blackout is one of my favourite MOCs just for proving that very few things are impossible to create in LEGO. If you do ever get a chance to build with Pete you’ll find he is a gentleman and a scholar, I hope to see the result of such a collaboration one day!
