This is probably terribly reductionist, but the US was never as big on megastructure public housing as European countries or Japan...   The American equivalent might be those later called &quot;the projects&quot; in Chicago, NYC, and elsewhere...  most failed miserably, most have been demolished, and some are lasting scars on the neighborhoods they were built in.

Also, before you say &quot;I would so live in one of those,&quot; keep in mind that each apartment is only 8 x 13 feet!</description>
