Going crazy is certainly unnecessary, but as a writer, I have to agree with Neko on this; there are “correct” ways of referring to things. Using the right words for things you talk about shows that you know what you’re talking about.

“LEGO bricks” is indeed the correct plural form for the little plastic thingies from Denmark that we all know and love. Not LEGOs or Legos or Laygoes. Heh heh…

In general, people also won’t jump down your throat for saying just “LEGO” — used as a plural noun, like the words sheep and deer and fish.

The LEGO Group is very particular about what their little plastic bricks are called:

“The word LEGO® is a brand name and is very special to all of us in the LEGO Group Companies. We would sincerely like your help in keeping it special. Please always refer to our bricks as ‘LEGO Bricks or Toys’ and not ‘LEGOS.’ By doing so, you will be helping to protect and preserve a brand of which we are very proud and that stands for quality the world over.”

As for MP3, it stands for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, which is a type of digital audio encoding format.

LEGO is the company, LEGOs are the toys they make.

And Dunechaser it would be pretty easy to make a DUPLO MP3 player. You just need to carve out the inside and Walmart.com had this tiny MP3 player a little bigger than a die (dice) that can be stuck in the brick.

And what does MP3 stand for? Music Player 3? I don’t get it. Why isn’t it MP2, or just MP?

this one gets my kudos cause the buttons are built into the studs. that just seems too cool to contain.

…and the fact that they said LEGOs is just a reflection of every child’s vocabulary who’s ever played with LEGOs! and the LEGO Company should just chill out with that shizzle. i’m gonna fight the power. LEGOs LEGOs LEGOs.

let’s face it folks, saying “he owns a lot of LEGO” or “look at all these LEGO” just sounds weird.

I’ve seen actual bricks modified to serve as an MP3 and memory sticks/usb drives/etc. =)
And I don’t need medication,
I’m just trying to educate the public.

I’m thinkin’ about buying a dock for my I-POD, but I always leave it in a case, and I don’t think it’ll fit on the port with the case on.

I say LEGOs too and think people who go crazy over that need medication.

Anyways. You can just buy a regular MP3 player and stick it in a brick if you are handy. It would be really easier to do it to a DULPO block.
