The Bounty Hunter 4-LOM by Chris Deck

Chris Deck is a man after my own heart. Here’s a quote from his FBTB Forums post:
Same rules apply for him as for all my other minifigs, too: No saw, glue or paint.
Ah, sweet, sweet music to my purist ears! Oh, and here’s the alien Bounty Hunter 4-LOM himself:

I would not have thought to […]

LEGO INC

I recently blogged about Brickshelf user comic’s creations based on Hayao Miyazaki films, promising to highlight his blog here on Pan-Pacific Bricks.
Ichigou and Nigou regularly (sometimes daily) post new stop-motion LEGO Star Wars movies. You have to see them to believe them, so head on over to LEGO INC and check them out for yourself!
The […]

Nausicaa Creations by comic/Ichigou

I highlighted Brickshelf user comic’s Robonoid MOC a couple weeks ago, promising to post (must…resist…cross-linking!) about his Star Wars stop-motion movies. Before I had a chance to do so, he posted some really cool creations based on my favorite Hayao Miyazaki movie (and lengthy comic book saga), Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind.
First up, the […]

Moko’s “Baikinman”

The popular Japanese cartoon “Anpanman” features a self-sacrificing superhero who has a head made of bread filled with bean jam. You with me so far? Anpanman fights starvation and hunger everywhere. His arch-nemesis is an evil space-germ named Baikinman (”baikin” means germ). Behold the animated GIF!

Moko has graced us with a version of Baikinman to […]

Technorati rank: 243,828

Technorati provides various tools for people interested in blogs. Technorati’s main feature is its search capability, and the site indexes more than 23.5 million blogs on the Internet. By “claiming” a blog (Technorati verifies that you’re the blog owner), you get access to more tools, including the ability to apply tags to your blog.
What’s interesting […]

New Header — Yeah Baby!

Thanks to my graphic designer friend Sky, Pan-Pacific Bricks now has a cool new header graphic.
For a blog about breaking down barriers between LEGO cultures across the Pacific Ocean, I thought a minifig from each of the uniquely American and Japanese themes would be appropriate. Thus the cowboy and the samurai, from the Wild West […]

Sugegasa’s “Fig-9″

Sugegasa has just posted a sinister-looking minifigure called “Fig-9″ (okay, so all of Sugegasa’s minifigs are numberd, but “Fig-9″ just seems like an appropriate name for this one):

“Fig-9″ would fit in well in the Tech West theme. I wonder how Sugegasa attached the rifle behind the fig?

Japanese Figure Skater is a LEGO Fan

Japanese figure skater Mao Asada, currently in first place (Washington Post - requires registration) in the ISU Figure Skating Grand Prix Finals being held in Tokyo, is apparently a LEGO fan. According to her official Web site her hobbies include jigsaw puzzles and LEGO.
What set Japanese bloggers buzzing today was the one item she picked […]

Japanese LEGO Blogs

This post includes all of the LEGO blogs that used to appear in the “Japanese LEGO Blogs” area over on the right. I’ll update the list as I encounter more blogs. If you have ideas for blogs that should be listed here, feel free to drop me a line at dunechaser AT gmail DOT […]

“Cogitry Throckwood” by Mark Stafford

Mark Stafford, new Classic-Castler (aka Brickshelf user Nabii), recently posted a cool little “clockwork wizard:”

Great use of Technic parts, purple pieces, and the Doc Ock head. And boy! Those pneumatic T pieces sure do come in handy!
Has anybody else noticed the uptick in really awesome brick-built minifigures lately?

Japanese LEGO Builders

This post collects all of the Brickshelf galleries and Web sites I’ve found that feature LEGO creations by Japanese builders. I’ll update this list (and alphabetize it at some point) as I encounter more. If you have ideas for galleries or sites that should be listed here, feel free to drop me a line at […]

Martian by Count Blockula

Mike “Count Blockula” Crowley has made a Martian based on one of the best bad (you know what I mean) movies of the last ten years, Mars Attacks:

The ray gun is sweet!

Peladofigphobia

Felix Greco posted the following on LUGNET:

Do you find the appearance of a minifig with no hat, hair, or helmet to be unsettling?
Do you find your minifigs to be incomplete without something covering that top stud?
When veiwing the creations of others, do you find the appearance of a minifig with an exposed stud on its […]

American Comics Lego Archive

You’ll never see modified minifigs on my other blog, but in the interest of objectivity, I absolutely must highlight Xueren’s American Comics Lego Archive blog. Nearly every day, Xueren posts a new custom minifig based on comic book characters. Recent posts have included several great renditions of Marvel villains and heroes:
[…]

A Japanese Word Game in LEGO

So there’s this Japanese word game called “shiritori” (しりとり). Basically, players say words in sequence, each player starting the next word with the last letter (or kana) of the previous word. (Read the WikiPedia article if you care about the detailed rules.)
“How the heck is this related to LEGO?” you ask. Back in April, Uda-san […]

Robonoid by comic/Ichigou

Brickshelf user comic has posted a robot walker based on Hayao Miyazaki’s first film, Conan, the Boy of the Future:

Of course, Robonoid also looks a lot like “Steve” the ride-pod from Dark Cloud 2 for the PS2. I’d love to make a version of this that looks more like Steve and put an improved version […]

3vil Don King?

Brickshelf user stuifzand has created a vaguely 3vil-looking minifig creation called “Weird Hair:”

Antony Lau’s “Maxifig” Creations

Before LEGO introduced the minifigure in the late 1970s, the only people in LEGO sets were brick-built figures or what we now call “maxifigs.” I still have three or four of these, but Antony Lau seems to have a whole collection. Using modern pieces and building techniques, he’s created a number of interesting figures and […]
